Over the course of our lives we meet and befriend all kinds of people. Some go on to become wildly successful, and some even make it into the celebrity spotlight, but for those of us who knew them during those frizzy haired elementary school days, or those self-conscious and confused teenage years, well, we'll always remember them for who they were, won't we.

But some lucky friends become famous together, helping each other through thick and thin. So it's incredibly heartwarming to see these celebrity friendships that started before they were famous, and see how they have blossomed in the limelight together. You just know that they've got some stories to tell!

Check out these 11 celebrity pairs who have been through thick and thin, bad hair and worse relationships, and on top of it all shot to fame, all while deepening their bonds of friendship.

3. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck

Becoming friends in the early '80s in Cambridge, Massachusetts when they were both kids living on the same street, these two quickly became the best of friends and they went on to write and star in Good Will Hunting together, propelling them simultaneously into the limelight.

In an interview with Parade, Affleck said:

"Before Matt, I was by myself. Acting was a solo activity where I'd just go off and do something, act in a little TV show or something, and no one understood it. … All of a sudden I had this friend Matt, and he gets it and wants to do it and thinks it's interesting and wants to talk about it."

4. Robin Williams and Christopher Reeve

This amazing celebrity friendship began in 1973 when Reeve and Williams were roommates together at the Juilliard School in NYC. They remained great friends throughout their careers, supporting each other throughout their lives.

In his autobiography Still Me, Reeve wrote about Williams coming to visit him in the hospital, disguised as a Russian proctologist:

Then, at an especially bleak moment, the door flew open and in hurried a squat fellow with a blue scrub hat and a yellow surgical gown and glasses, speaking in a Russian accent. He announced that he was my proctologist and that he had to examine me immediately. My first reaction was that either I was on way too many drugs or I was in fact brain damaged...For the first time since the accident, I laughed. My old friend had helped me know that somehow I was going to be okay.

5. Ryan Gosling and Justin Timberlake

Meeting as fellow cast-members of the Mickey Mouse Club, they even lived together briefly when Gosling's mother went back to Canada.

10. Adam Levine and Jonah Hill

Since their fathers were already best friends (having met at the principal's office in junior high), it wasn't long after these two were born that they started hanging out. In a Playboy Magazine interview, Hill said:
