[Tom Clancy's The Division](tag:2684169) is an upcoming, RPG third person shooter, open world video game which is to be published by Ubisoft. The game is a post-apocalyptic game set in New York, where a weaponized virus has been released that has shut down basic services.

Your job, as part of an elite crew, is to set society back to the way it should be and to take back a devastated New York. While society collapses around you, you and your friends have to fight, take on factions that have formed in the aftermath of the virus, and find items to survive this harsh new environment. All while people who were once civilised turn on each other, and you.

I have picked out five key aspects that I think set The Division apart from other titles and for all these reasons I cant wait to dive deeper into Tom Clancy's: The Division.

1. The Premise

A world where society is broken just sounds awesome. No, I am not an anarchist but bring on the chaos! This game isn't so much about zombies as it is about a world where society itself has broken down after a mysterious weaponized virus.

The world has gone to the dogs, people are killing people and it’s up to you to save them. As it says in the trailer, "There cannot be any hope for tomorrow, if we don't fight for today".

As the trailer depicts, the once civilised person is now seen to be burning, shooting and deceiving others as the will to survive takes control. Be warned, in this bleak and lonely world, no mercy will be shown to by your once fellow man.

This state of decay calls for an elite team to try and fix it, that’s you! Along with your friends or team members that you can even pick up along the way; The Division takes the post apocalyptic premise and turns it upside down, but watch out, PVP is a huge part of the game. Trust, no one!

2. The Team

The elite team itself sounds amazing, ‘when society falls we rise’. Aww Yea!

In this game you get to play as a member of a crack team sent in when the world goes to hell, your mission; Save what remains of humanity. But the choices we have once deployed is an inspired angle to development.

We can choose to remain as part of the team fighting for good or we can choose to fight for ourselves. Fight for peace and resolution to the world's plight or to fight for what we can sell for the highest price. What will you do with this power?

As tradition dictates, without basic services you must survive, gathering food, water, ammunition and gear. When you start off you get a basic survival kit but after that you have to find your own gear and ammo. Food and water can also be found, but as drinking and eating are not needed they are instead used for trading.

3. The Interactive Menu

A menu can be accessed anytime on your character, via their smart watch. This enables you to quickly access sections like world map, skills and inventory. Along with a simple HUD that floats to one side of your character, which displays things like health and ammo.

Simplicity is key. This means that you don't have to keep looking to the side of the screen to check these parts, instead it is right on hand, floating next to the character.

4. Co-op! Back to Back and Reload!

Oh my gosh, wasn't that the coolest co op gameplay ever.

One of my favourite parts of the game is Co-op, allowing you, your friends and other players to work and play together, along with trading with other people and PVP.

This element to a title is often requested but seldom implemented. There is nothing more exciting than gearing up and heading out into the unknown with a bunch of your buddies. In a world where you can only rely on yourself, it is nice to have a soldier by your side that you can trust.

In The Division, you can come and go at any time; you can focus your efforts on finding out where the virus came from and eradicating it, or spend your time exploring the scorched streets of the city.

Alongside your friends you can work to tackle the multiple factions that have formed; the factions that are killing, the factions that are depraved. Spend your time locating and eliminating all these opposing threats is a sure fire way of having some fun.

And the selfies.. Love it!

5. The Aesthetics

The graphics in the game themselves look pretty good so far, with attention to detail shown in the trailer along with vibrant colours and clarity.

Shown in the gameplay we saw the ever so delicate caress of the snow falling around the characters. Along with the birds that scatter at the sound of gunshots and the smoke that billows out from a fire.

Again with the simplicity, sometimes even the most menial of things make a whole lot of difference. For instance, the cool green effects from a healing grenade thrown at another player on a team and sun beams that periodically burst through the dust in the atmosphere, all these elements each have a hand in creating the most realistic world possible for the players to explore.

I could, in all honesty go on for hours listing elements of The Division that I love but that would defy the point of the short list I guess. If you have a favourite element that is coming to The Division that I haven't mentioned then please comment below, I want to hear all your thoughts too.
