The more news that rolls out about the upcoming animated movie based on The Killing Joke, the more excited I get. It really looks like the stars are aligning for this project, and already some impeccable casting decisions are paving the way for an unforgettable adaptation.
Earlier this week, it was announced that we're definitely getting the Joker we need and deserve in the form of Mark Hamill and his untouchable voice. As if that weren't reason enough to mark your calendars for this direct-to-video release, now there are rumors that another fan favorite will be making her way to the sound studio.
That person is none other than beloved voice actor Tara Strong
During the panel on [Justice League: Gods and Monsters](tag:3427134), Bruce Timm admitted that he was working on an unnamed project with Tara Strong. With the top-tier casting of Hamill, it's looking more and more likely that this project is The Killing Joke for which Strong has been tapped.
Though most people these days associate her with Harley Quinn, she got her start in the Batman universe as Barbara Gordon a.k.a. Batgirl. Considering that character's major role in The Killing Joke, I'd be willing to bet Tara Strong goes back to her roots and voices Gordon again. After all, the story includes probably the most pivotal moment in Batgirl's life.
As a huge fan of the animated series, now all I want is Kevin Conroy to be added to the cast, and I'll be on jolly jester.
