As any Marvel fan should know by now, there are six Infinity Gems (They are called Stones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe). The MCU recently revealed all six with films like Guardians of the Galaxy and [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](tag:293035). The movies have confirmed four of the stones, Mind, Reality, Power and Space and the Time and Soul Stones are yet to be shown in the MCU. Since Thanos first used the Infinity Gauntlet, there have been the six gems pictured below, but I believe that the MCU added a seventh stone that will play a huge part in Infinity War and it will be the key to defeating Thanos.

What is the Seventh Stone?

The Seventh Infinity Stone is Tony Stark's Arc Reactor. The Arc Reactor is the reason Tony is alive, and it is a remarkably advanced piece of technology that powers all of his Iron Man suits It gives off infinite energy and powers most of his suits. It even repelled Loki's scepter and prevented him from being brainwashed. Let's take a look at a few more interesting observations:

Where is the Evidence?

Let's look at the movies. Since the beginning of the MCU, Marvel has being dropping little clues here and there. In the very first Iron Man movie, which came out all the way back in 2008, Nick Fury says "Tony opened the door to an entirely new and different universe becoming Iron Man". Two years later in Iron Man 2, Tony created a completely new element when he made the 3rd generation of his arc tech. The Arc reactor was reverse engineered from when Howard Stark was studying the Tesseract back in the 1940s and 1950s. Howard saw it as the stepping stone to create a new, stable element that would render nuclear power obsolete. In the video that Howard leaves his son, he says that his "greatest invention" was the key to a new universe. You can interpret that as Tony or the Arc reactor itself.

In the Avengers movie, The Arc reactor blocked the power of the mind stone when Loki attempted to control Tony Stark. Now, many people believe that Loki couldn't control him because he touched metal, not his heart. That doesn't make sense; how would an Infinity Stone, one of the most powerful items in the MCU, not be able to penetrate through a thin layer of metal. there had to be something repelling the power of the Mind Stone, which would be the man-made Infinity Stone created by Tony Stark himself.

As the MCU moves on into Phase 2, there is even more proof of this. The uni-beam from the Arc Reactor in Tony's newer suits has the same appearance and sound as the beams from the Space/Mind stone powered Hydra weapons.

What does the Arc Reactor have to do with Infinity War?

When Infinity War takes place, Thanos will have all six Infinity Stones in his possession. There is literally no possible way a bunch of mortals and Thor can defeat him just by punching him and shooting at him. The Avengers/ Guardians and more heroes need something that is much more powerful than all of their abilities combined. That is where the Seventh Infinity Stone comes in. Vision will also need the Seventh Infinity Stone to keep himself alive while Thanos has the Mind Stone. I believe Thanos will take the Mind Stone from Vision and Vision will "die". Tony Will donate his Arc Reactor to revive Vision and they will use it to defeat Thanos.
