Last year, Jena Malone set off a firestorm of rumors when she was spotted on the set of [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice](tag:711870), fueling speculation that she could be involved in any role ranging from Harley Quinn to Carrie Kelly. Now, it seems as though her role has been confirmed in the film, and she's lined up for something much greater than an irritating reporter.
Sources close to Latino Review have revealed that Malone, best known for her roles in The Hunger Games series and Zack Snyder's previous geek-fantasy movie, Sucker Punch, will be playing Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon who has filled the roles of both Batgirl and Oracle in her comic book tenure. LR's Kellvin Chavez reported:
A few weeks ago, while at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, I found out some information about who Jena Malone will be playing in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."
Well, now I got the third source and can exclusively reveal that she will playing Barbara Gordon.
It makes sense to involve Barbara in some form or another -- as Oracle, Barbara is perhaps one of the most vital allies that Batman has, her razor-sharp mind moving at 300 miles a minute to keep one step ahead of his enemies. Now, a teenage Barbara is currently enjoying an exceptionally successful role in DC's new Batgirl comic book series, returning to her role as a superheroine in an award-winning standalone title that has constantly ranked high in monthly sales.
Of course, this is to be taken with a grain of salt until the studio confirms it. But if it is confirmed, are you excited about this casting, or do you think someone else should fill Barbara Gordon's shoes?
**Editor's note: It's true; I was voted Most Likely to Grow Up to Be Oracle in my senior year superlatives.*
