Like most creators on Moviepilot, I'm a huge movie geek. I know about every movie coming out next year, I'm constantly checking for the newest Batman trailer, and a good half of my money has been dedicated to movie tickets. Some of my earliest memories entail me watching movies with family and friends. Watching Star Wars while my uncle performs a pitch perfect Chewbacca roar. Going to see Super 8 with my oldest friends, not knowing that this movie would help me discover my passion in film-making. Movies have always made me able to be myself and interact with people. I know it's a little late for Friendship Day, but every day should be spent with friends and watching awesome movies. Here's my set of movies to watch with friends.

Super 8

Like I said before, this was the movie that made me want to be a director. I mean all it took for me was watching this group of kids spending their summer putting zombie make-up on their friends, filming next to an Air Force investigation for production value, and capturing it all on a tiny 8mm camera, just made me think "Why am I not doing this?". It looked like the best way to spend a summer vacation. It's perfect for friends because these kids are archetypes for every friendship. I can't stop seeing myself in Charles every time I watch this movie. Super 8 is the E.T. of my generation .

The Goonies

Goonies is one of those movies no child should miss. It's the perfect mix of treasure hunting and life lessons. Goonies taught me to do something if my life was falling apart. To take action, not to let it slide. Plus, it's a story about love. Sloth and Chunk taught me that love is unconditional, that you can't choose who you love, it just happens. There's just so much one person can learn from this movie.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

You know you've got an awesome group of friends when they'll go hooky with you. But you know you've got the best group when you go hooky and have a day like Ferris Bueller's Day Off. In that movie, they sang on a parade float, snuck into an expensive restaurant, killed a Ferrari, and so much more. How can you do so much in one day? Well, I hope that there's a day in my future where I achieve a day like that one. One can only hope to find friends like that, but it's like finding The One. You know they're out there, you've just got to wait and keep your eyes open for them. Ferris showed me that those friends aren't impossible to find, but you can never let them go.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

Of all the movies I've seen, this is the one I remember seeing first. And to this day, it remains in my Top Five. It just has everything that I love. Sci-fi, aliens, good characters, and a story that goes beyond the year it was released. It remains popular to this day, and that's what makes it one of the best movies for friends. It's part of everyone's childhood in some way, so every time you watch it, it brings back the memories that you've both forgotten and longed for. However, if you don't want your friends to see you cry, you might wanna save this one for yourself.

While these movies are my favorite to watch with friends, there's no limit to what you can do with friends. Some friends may find the perfect moments in watching Paranormal Activity, while others spend time watching the next Die Hard. All groups are different, and that's what makes all friends one-of-a-kind!
