It is no secret that I am a huge Potterhead, and due to the fact that it was a [Harry Potter](tag:1523709) filled week with Neville Longbottom and Harry's birthdays taking place this week, I thought it would only make sense to write an article that was inspired by the Harry Potter series. Ever since I began my obsession with Harry Potter, I especially loved Hermione. She is a strong, smart, female character with an amazingly large amount of passion for learning and protecting those around her. She is someone to look up to, and someone who I personally would want to be friends with and here's why!

1. She is intelligent

If you know Hermione's character then you know that she spends most of her time in the library, reading or researching. It is this intelligence that helps keep Ron and Harry out of so much trouble, and helps her get straight A's.

In fact, she is so smart that she needs time for more classes then she is already taking, and uses time travel just to fit more classes in. She uses her brains to help her friends and those around her, which is another reason that she would be such a great friend.

2. She is caring and loyal

Hermione, although incredibly clever, knows that friends and family are what are truly important. She is caring and kind, but she is not afraid to stick up for what she believes is right. She will do whatever it takes to succeed with her goals, and she will always have a great outlook on what is important. Her kindness in helping others (like including Neville when others find him annoying) is what makes her a great friend.

3. She is strong

"Young girls are told you have to be the delicate princess. Hermione taught them that you can be the warrior"-Emma Watson.

Emma Watson is correct: Hermione did teach young girls that they can be a warrior, but I personally believe that she taught them that they could be both. She acted with grace and beauty, like a princess, but was strong and brave like a warrior. She really did fight for her family and friends and her beliefs, and she was very brave (She was in Gryffindor after all). She punched Draco Malfoy, made Polyjuice Potion at a very young age, and came along with Harry on every crazy, adventurous plan he had in mind.

Ultimately, I believe that Hermione Granger would make a great friend because she is smart, brave, and kind. She uses her intelligence and bravery to help her friends, but she never strays from her caring behavior - making her the ultimate companion.

In closing, Happy Birthday to J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter... So glad to be a Potterhead!
