Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is arguably the most looked forward to movie of 2016, and it seems like no one can get enough of the hype for this film! Since this is such a popular topic, myself, as well as creators Trent Tofte, Matt Cordisco, Aayush Gupta, and Steve Johnson (whose profiles you can check out by clicking on their names) have decided to make a collaboration project/friendly competition to see who can make the best post about Batman v. Superman (there's are soon to follow, be on the lookout!). This is a free for all competition, and each writer can write about whatever they want, so I've decided to speculate of many things. Let's start with a rundown of the cast so far:
Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman
Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman
Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman
Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman
Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash (rumored)
Amy Adams as Lois Lane
Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Thomas Wayne
Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor
Jena Malone as Barbara Gordon (rumored)
Diane Lane as Martha Kent
Holly Hunter as Senator Finch
Jeremy Irons as Alfred
Michael Shannon as General Zod
Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves
Laurence Fishburne as Perry White
Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg
Christina Wren as Carrie Farris
Callan Mulvey as KGBeast
There it is folks, the entire confirmed and rumored cast of Batman v. Superman! There's a lot more characters than you thought, aren't there? There are more to come, too! Well, now that we've gone over the whole cast of the movie, let's break down all the interesting facts we know, from the trailers and otherwise.
One of the Robins is Dead
In the trailer, it would appear that The Joker has killed one of the Robins in the past. Now, if they play this by the comics, then that Robin would have to be Jason Todd. This opens up the possibility of seeing everyone's favorite anti-hero/villain Red Hood, and would explain why Batman is so much more damaged than we've ever seen him (to see actors who could play the Red Hood, click here!).
Not Everyone Loves Superman
It would seem that people aren't taking a shining to The Man of Steel, and for good reason! He destroyed half the city of Metropolis, and snapped General Zod's neck on TV! While we all know that Superman is only here to help, it would seem that the people in the movie don't feel the same way. Except for some...
Superman Has His Own Militia?!
That's right, if you look close, you can see that these soldiers have the Superman symbol on their shoulders! And they're bowing down to him like he's a god! The normal people of the world all might not like Superman, but there are enough that do to form a militia/support group. Are these just regular people? Are they licensed by the military? Are they robots?! We won't know until we see the movie!
Lex Luthor Has General Zod's Body
See that hand? That's Lex. Lex Luthor has found a way to obtain General Zod's dead body, but why? We can only assume that he wants to either examine Zod's body to find Superman's weakness, or he wants to create something from Zod's DNA to defeat Superman. But we'll get more into that later...
Batman and Superman Really Do Fight!
Everyone had the theory that Batman and Superman wouldn't really fight, and would have to team up against a bigger threat (which is coming right after this, don't worry, this wasn't click bait!), but they are really going to fight each other! In the trailer we see full blown fight scenes between the two, and they seem more evenly matched than you think! It looks like both parties are going all out on each other, and that we might actually see a winner between the two! How cool is that?!
Now, in this movie, we know that there has to be a third party villain, but who? The moment you've all been waiting for, I'm going to go into who I think will be this person! Exciting, right? No, just me? Ok, I'll shut up now.
Lex Luthor is an obvious choice. He's one of the most dangerous villains Superman will ever face, and he's been confirmed for the movie. My theory? I think that Lex will put Batman up to fighting Superman, convincing him that they have the same interests, and sit back to watch the battle. How this will all go wrong? Batman will of course monologue once he has the upper-hand, and then will realize that he and Supes want the same things, and Lex is the evil one. They team up, they go find Lex, and he's gone. To return in Justice League? I hope so.
I have a question for a faithful readers of mine: Why would they credit Michael Shannon (who played General Zod) for this movie, if we just see his dead body? I believe that Lex will use Zod's DNA to create Doomsday, and that he will be Michael Shannon with A LOT of CGI. When Lex realizes that Batman can't defeat Superman, I would imagine him releasing this monstrous creature on the two, and try to take care of them both. This would practically force them to work together, and they may not be enough. This is where I imagine Wonder Woman coming in, and possibly The Flash and Aquaman as well. Speaking of Wonder Woman...
That's right, I think that Wonder Woman could join the fight to try to break up the two. That makes sense in its self, right? She would rather have the issues talked out between them than see them fight, so she gets dragged in as well. Or maybe she knows what Lex is up to, and tries to break up the fight to stop what he wants? Now, this one ties into my Doomsday theory. I think that when Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman all start hashing it out real good, Lex will unleash the experiment. They all have to work together to beat him, and the Justice League is now semi-formed! Yay, everyone wins!
I don't think that KGBeast will fight both Bats and The Son of Krypton head on, but will be employed by Lex to clean up the mess. Lex thinks that Batman will kill Superman, and when he does, KGBeast will be there to assassinate the Bat. But when Wonder Woman shows up, he's called off by his employer, and Doomsday is sent in. That's right, I think that Batman and Superman will have to deal with all of these choices, and that this whole movie will be Lex Luthor's own personal puppet show. Kind of messed up, right?
Bonus: Post Credits Scenes/Cameos!
The name is very hard to see in this photo, but that headstone says "Richard John Grayson," which is the full name of the first Robin a.k.a Nightwing. Now, you would assume that he is connected to the Robin costume, right? Wrong. I believe that Jason Todd is the Robin that got killed by The Joker, and that Dick faked his own death. Why? Because there's a comic book story line where he fakes his own death to become a secret S.P.Y.R.A.L. agent. Could they change him to an A.R.G.U.S. agent perhaps? I think that he will show up in Wayne manor after the credits, and we will see him again in Suicide Squad, ultimately connecting the two movies.
Of course if Dick Grayson is still alive, then Jason Todd was killed, and came back as the Red Hood. I think we'll see Dick in the mid-credits scene, and Jason in the actual post-credits scene. It's very far-fetched to say that both scenes, if there even are any, are directed towards Batman, but I so hope they are! I would like to see two street thugs breaking into a jewelry store (specific, I know), and then being shot to death, panning out to show a shadowy figure with a visible Red Hood holding two pistols in his hands. It gives me chills just thinking about seeing this story line!
I think that it's very possible to see Cyborg being created in a post-credits scene. I have no idea how it would connect to anything, or even happen (not the biggest Cyborg fan), but I think it's very possible.
The way I envision Aquaman being in a post-credits scene is that an Atlantean soldier comes in, kneels, and proceeds to tell Arthur about the powerful beings that have fought on the surface world. The camera then pans to Jason Momoa as Aquaman, and he simply says, "I must meet with them." Dun-dun-dun! I don't know about you, but that would leave me on the edge of my seat until Justice League came out.
Now, I don't think that The Flash would show up in a post-credits, but the movie itself. In the trailer, when Batman and Superman are fighting, there is a violent thunderstorm happening at the same time. We've all thought that it was just added for drama, right? Well, what if I told you that this is the thunderstorm that creates The Flash? My theory is that Superman makes Batman crash through a building, which turns out to be Barry Allen's lab, and that Batman pushes Barry out of the way, inadvertently causing him to crash into the chemicals rack. With Barry hurt and covered in strange chemicals, and a giant hole in the roof while there's a thunderstorm going on, it's left to the viewer to guess what happens, and we all know what does.
Adam West is DC Comics' king of cameos, so of course I would expect him to show up somehow. I'm just going to throw out some humorous possibilities that would involve the original Batman showing up, and I am in no way expecting any of these to happen. We see Ben Affleck walking into the Wayne Enterprises building, and a shoe shiner outside asks him if he would like, well, his shoes to be shined. Bruce of course just walks right passed him, and the shoe shiner looks up to his current client, whose face is covered by a newspaper, and asks, "Was that Bruce Wayne?" Then Adam West lowers the news paper to revel himself and says, "I doubt it," and raises it back up. Another funny cameo I would like to see would be Bruce Wayne meeting with the board of Wayne Enterprises, and makes his case to keep control of his company (because let's face it, they're always trying to take the company away from Bruce). He is somewhat enraged, and asks the head of the board, "How am I less capable of running this company than these washed-up old has-beens?!" He slams his hand on the table, and wakes up Adam West, who has been secretly sleeping through the whole meeting. I could honestly go all day writing about Adam West cameos I want to see, but I think you get the point.
What did you think? Do you have a cameo or third party villain you would want to see? Did I miss any interesting facts? Let me know in the comments!
