As it is now common knowledge that Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will culminate in the two-part movie [The Avengers: Infinity War](tag:738027), based on the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, one has to wonder, what will happen after Phase 3? Well, here is my current theory...
During the Skrull invasion of Earth, Deadpool accidentally sends details to Norman Osborn on how to kill the Skrull Queen that were meant to be sent to Nick Fury. Norman kills the Queen and uses this success to take over from Tony Stark as director of S.H.I.E.L.D, which he later replaced with H.A.M.M.E.R. He then assembles his own team of Avengers and forms the Super-villain team "The Cabal."
Marvel is infamous for underutilizing their great villains, so this would definitely be their saving grace. With the Infinity War teased in Age of Ultron as an invasion of Earth, the Inhumans looking as if they will be the MCU's version of the X-Men, and the Sony/Marvel deal, The Dark Reign is most certainly a possibility for the MCU. But what exactly will it detail?
It is rumored that the Ultron technology survived the Sokovia Assault, and will be hinted at in Civil War. If this is true, if Norman Osborn was to come into power, he could recreate Ultron, but instead of all the wise cracks and sarcasm, make him the terrifying villain that he looked like in the trailers.
The Cabal would be an interesting choice for Marvel. While they would not have a standalone movie, think of the best of Marvel's villains teaming up and controlling everything that happens in the MCU. Just imagine the Empire but instead of Darth Vader you have a Norse Demi God.
What exactly would a super-villain secret society consist of in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
I would have to choose Norman Osborn, leader of S.H.I.E.L.D. and, should the Civil War follow the comic storyline, head of the Fifty State Initiative. His power over the US would be a great asset to the Cabal.
Next I would choose Loki, his mythical powers mirror that of Doctor Strange and is seen as Thor's opposite.
Wilson Fisk, should he rise to power on Daredevil, would be a worthy asset to The Cabal due to his wealth and resources.
Black Bolt would be Emma Frost's film counterpart as he would join in a mutually beneficial deal that would protect his Inhuman society from the government.
If my last guess was to come true, I would like Ultron to be on the Cabal. His scientific mind and ability to access technology from all around the world could come in handy for Cabal, and rival Stark's scientific mind.
While it is a long shot, my last member would be Red Skull. It is long rumored that Skull is not dead, but if he is dead, I would love to see Baron Zemo on the Cabal. His power on the Cabal could lead to a Masters of Evil movie or appearance.
Long rumored and is speculated to be coming to a Netflix series, the team of misfit villains and anti-heroes could become Marvel's first sleeper hit since Guardians of the Galaxy. A team of rag tag villains trying to redeem themselves with the help of Avengers such as Hawkeye or Luke Cage? I'm in.
The Alien Suit Saga
One of the greatest and well known Spider-man stories ever told. While poorly handled in Spider-Man 3, I believe that Marvel would do the story justice, and if Dark Reign was to become a possibility, it would fit in perfectly with an entire storyline revolving around the rise of super villains.
Ant-Man/Wasp team up
Hinted at greatly in Ant-Man, fans are demanding a sequel to Ant-Man that will showcase Wasp, but how will this fit into a saga of villainy? Enter Yellowjacket. While not handled as well as he should have been in Ant-Man, I believe that he should be given a second chance in a sequel. With Norman Osborn in power and access to all of S.H.I.E.L.D's secrets, he could recreate the Yellowjacket formula and the film could revolve around Scott and Hope taking out Yellowjacket one last time.
The Dark Avengers
The Dark Avengers are Norman Osborn's team of Avengers. The team consists of villains disguised as heroes such as Bullseye (Hawkeye), Venom (Spider-Man) and Moonstone (Ms. Marvel). The team of misfits is led by Norman Osborn, who takes up the mantel of Iron Patriot (Iron Man and Captain America). With the Sony/Marvel deal meaning Marvel can use Spider-Man villains, I would love to see Norman Osborn suiting up as The Iron Patriot. This would also be a great opportunity to include Venom in the MCU as well as the Sentry. With Moonstone, the possible villain for the Captain Marvel movie, and Red Hulk and Bullseye set to appear in Civil War and Daredevil respectively, I'd say we have a strong roster for a Dark Avengers team.
A Dark Avengers movie would certainly be interesting. A movie about villains disguised as heroes doing good for bad reasons? Take my money now.
Possible roster - Iron Patriot, Moonstone, Venom, Bullseye, Yellowjacket and The Sentry.
