Christopher Nolan is undoubtedly one of the most influential directors of our time. His shooting style is beautiful and polished while his stories are often mind-bending and thought-provoking. Here's a countdown of his best 8 movies.

8. Insomnia

Insomnia is the 2002 thriller that stars two Los Angeles detectives that are dispatched to Northern town to find a methodical murderer. Al Pacino plays a cop struggling to solve the case where Robin Williams is the culprit. It's tense tone is incredibly captivating and you can see Nolan's early methods forming in this movie.

7. The Prestige

This is the tale of two magicians that keep trying to out-smart and out-wit one another. Their goal is to create the ultimate stage illusion. The back and forth facade is gripping and the two lead roles are perfectly cast.

6. Batman Begins

Batman Begins is the origin story all us Batman fans dreamed of. It had a well picked cast, some stellar action scenes and just a good quality film in general. Christian Bale proved to be a hit with fans even if his voice sounded like there something caught in it all those years...

5. Memento

This is one of Nolan's usual mind-bending films that tests the viewers knowledge and concentration. A man has a strange system to help him remember things so he can hunt for his wife's murderer. His short-term memory loss is a big problem, but he copes with it well in this well told story.

4. Interstellar

Nolan's latest epic is a fabulous sci-fi that puts Earth's best astronauts on an expedition to find a new Earth for humanity. It's ambitious, glorious and just a great watch with a fantastic cast.

3. The Dark Knight Rises

The concluding chapter in Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy is a fitting one. The expectations were humongous, but it's safe to say it did match those expectations considering they didn't have the late, great Ledger this time around. Will this superhero trilogy ever be topped?

2. Inception

The best mind-bending movie ever made in my opinion. Amazing cast with Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, etc. The effects are eye-popping and the overall pace leaves you to never be bored. Instant classic the day I saw it and will remain one of the greatest movies of the 21st Century.

1. The Dark Knight

What else other than the perfect superhero movie? The Dark Knight is in my opinion, Christopher Nolan's best movie. Tense, exhilarating and even Oscar worthy. This movie for me will never be topped and will always be my favorite film.

Here's to Nolan to do more fantastic movies because every movie on this list is amazing, kudos to a living legend.
