The other day, I focused on sequels that topped the original. I wish we could continue with this happy chat, but the planet Earth has what could potentially be the worst continuation ever in the new [Ghostbusters (2016)](tag:32733). There could not be a way to possibly stray farther from a comedy that the entire world has loved for 30 years.

The first problem for me is the cast. Melissa McCarthy is loved by a lot of people, by I just don't find her funny. I personally find her sense of humor to be pointlessly raunchy, and she reminds me of Roseanne Barr. I can also guarantee that her trying to replace Bill Murray will never work. Murray is one of my favorite comedians ever, with his subtle wit and hilarious sarcasm. No one can ever do his shtick like him. I like Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon on SNL, but I am not confident that they can live up to the brilliance of Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. Leslie Jones is just an extremely annoying comedian to me, and she does not have the charm of Ernie Hudson at all.

Paul Feig is the writer and director of the movie, and this could either be a curse or a blessing. I love his work on "Freaks and Geeks," because it was really charming and smart humor. Even his movie "Heavyweights" had a similar likability (in a less intelligent way). I understand the fanbase of his movies "Bridesmaids," "Knocked Up," etc, but they are really not my humor, and I don't feel that kind of writing will do this sequel justice. So if Feig decides to keep the humor like "Freaks and Geeks," it could be awesome, but if it gets to the super trashy humor of the others, then it will be a mess.

Last off, I just wish they would leave "Ghostbusters" alone. Even part two was bad, and it still had the same cast as the original. A movie like "Ghostbusters" was a treasure in a way that you can't repeat. No matter how many times this is tried, it will never meet the heights, and I just wish that people could think of something more original for once. So in the long run, there is possibility for a miracle, but I think that "Ghostbusters 3" is a terrible idea, and it will just further ruin the legacy of an awesome movie.

What do you think of Ghostbusters 3?
