Almost everyone's excited to see Margot Robbie play the clown prince's girlfriend in next year's Suicide Squad. Not only does she look the part, but judging from the film's most recent sneak peak she seems to embody the demented, and bubbly spirit of Harley Quinn as well. Despite only hearing a couple fragments of Harley's dialogue there's high anticipation that Robbie will do a stand up job, javing received critical praise for her acting in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street.
Now, with Robbie debuting Harley's first cinema appearance, whom else could take up the threshold? I don't mean specifically in Suicide Squad, but in any DC film project that'd include her.
7. Malin Akerman
Akerman's a comedic actress who's acted in many TV shows and films, such as: Trophy Wife, Children's Hospital, Suburgatory, Couples Retreat, The Comeback etc. True to Harley's personality, Akerman has natural jocular sensibilities. They also appear fairly similar, except the actress doesn't seem to pile as much makeup as Quinn does. ;)
6. Mae Whitman
Whitman's resume is a menagerie of complex, and interesting roles. A few of whom combined could easily fit Quinn's character profile. From the outgoing, strong willed Mary Elizabeth in Perks of Being a Wallflower, sensitive and temperable Katara in Avatar the Last Airbender and the obsessed, fire cracker Roxy Ritcher in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. In fact, Roxy's exterior in Scott Pilgrim is almost identical to Quinn's.
5. Chloe Grace Moretz
Moretz is an up-and-comer in the industry. Having worked with A-listers, such as: Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Julianne Moore, Keira Knightly, and acted in big Hollywood productions like Kick-Ass 1 and 2, Dark Shadows, Hugo etc. Although Moretz is relatively young, I believe she could wield Quinn's hammer if the film was set during her origin. Like the villainess, she's also adept in gymnastics.
4. Isla Fisher
Fisher's a versatile Australian actress who usually acts in comedies, but has touched almost every genre. One of her many distinguishing skills is having a knack for accents. She's flawlessly portrayed Americans in numerous films like Wedding Crashers, Confessions of a Shopaholic, Hot Rod, and in The Great Gatsby her Brooklyn accent was impeccable.
3. Anne Hathaway
Now, I know what some maybe thinking. She was already Selina aka Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, so how could she play another DC villainess? Well, seeing as how Chris Evans and Ryan Reynolds went on to play another set of iconic superheroes I don't see how this would be an issue. Hathaway and her characters and Quinn share some common traits. They're both sweet (when Harley's not murdering anyone or causing destruction), like Harley, Andy in The Devil Wears a Prada was a pushover (at least when she's with Mr. J) for half of the movie, and Mia from The Princess Diaries is likewise a hopeless romantic, but fiercely independent young woman.
2. Kristen Bell
A gifted thespian and singer. Bell comes off in interviews as being extroverted, giddy, humorous and fun. This just screams Harley Quinn. Besides, looking similar, Bell and Quinn are both animal lovers, well the latter may be more fond of hyenas than any other animal, but still.
1. Tara Strong
This probably seems like a cheat pick, as she's Harley's current voice actress. Yet, Strong would be one of the best candidates to play her in a live action film. She's an incredible actor, has the voice down, look down and even Mark Hamill said she could pull it off.
Here's a picture to further attest my argument.
Now if that's not Harley, I don't who is.
