I've read way too many comics and watched too many movies to function in normal society.

It’s fair to say Guardians of the Galaxy was the surprise hit of 2014. Marvel took one of their lesser-known brands and re-tooled it to the big screen and in doing so took a massive gamble. Fortunately for them, and us, it totally paid off. The adventures of Star-Lord and the gang were not only a financial and critical success at the box office, they were also a massive merchandising success with kids buying Rocket Racoon toys and lunchboxes with a fever not seen since the merchandise-heavy days of Star Wars.

Keen to keep pumping the money well - and keep Guardians in the spotlight - Marvel has produced a new animated series based on our favourite Tree-Man, Racoon, Orion Slave Girl… you get the picture…

The series is not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but will share many similarities with the incredibly high-grossing live-action movie. According to the official summary, the animated series follows the newly formed team as they find "a strange artifact keyed only to the DNA of Peter Quill. Upon opening it, Quill unleashes a treasure map leading to a powerful weapon known as the Cosmic Seed, which is capable of giving birth to the next universe."

Clips will begin to surface from the beginning of August telling the origin story of each member of the team, all leading up to the premiere of "Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy" animated series on September 26 on Disney XD.

Check out the following clip and leave your thoughts regarding the upcoming adventures!!
