For all of the rumors that an Army of Darkness 2 is upon us, there hasn't been a whole lot of movement on the project due to the new series Ash vs. Evil Dead. However, at the TCA conference, Bruce Campbell talked about possible Evil Dead sequels stating,
'Ash vs Evil Dead‘ will force us to make more movies. That’s only 10 hours of programming, we need 8 more movies. Making a fourth movie would work. No matter what we give them it will never be enough.
The kicker here for me is that this could easily be Campbell just joking around with everyone. Eight more movies, as of right now, seems to be a lot of Evil Dead that would probably be tasteless by the fifth movie. From what I've seen, fans have been dead-set on this statement by Campbell. Sam Raimi also seems keen on returning to helm the film as director if Campbell is up for it.
It seems as though we have two possibilities and I'm interested to see how things play out. Of course, fans of The Evil Dead are going to want sequels, myself included, but do we know when to stop? At what point do we say, "this is becoming a bit much"?
With the new television series premiering this Halloween on Starz, I guess we'll be able to see whether or not Raimi and Campbell both still have it in them to pull together something awesome like they did with the Evil Dead trilogy.
