There's been a lot of dissent within the Scream fan base over the issue of the new mask in the MTV Scream TV show. Fans have been screaming (heh heh) "How can they change the classic Ghostface design?" Right? Well, you may not have noticed this, but they've changed the mask before. Four times.
It's a different Ghostface mask in every single Scream movie.
I must have seen the Scream movies at least 10 times each, so I was pretty shocked that such a major detail had passed me by. Check out the details for each mask if you need proof...
Mask Design: Fantastic Faces Mask
Mask Trivia: The first Scream mask was made by novelty store Fun World designer Brigitte Sleiertin and was originally called 'The Peanut-Eyed Ghost.' Producer Marianne Maddalena found the mask while she and director Wes Craven were searching for the perfect mask for their Scream killer.

Scream 2 (1997)
Mask Design: Fearsome Faces Mask
Mask Trivia: The mask for Scream 2 is slightly different - Funworld updated their line of masks from 'Fantastic Faces' to 'Fearsome Faces,' giving the second mask chunkier orbital sockets and a more pronounced mouth curve. Scream 2 also saw the release of the mask in glow-in-the-dark variations, though these were not featured in the movie.

Scream 3 (2000)
Mask Design: Ghostface Mask
Mask Trivia: The Scream 3 mask is a simple, matte white, and bears the name we most associate with the killer's identity: Ghostface. The woman who designed the original mask - inspired partly by Edvard Munch's 'The Scream' - described the mask's expression:
"It's a horrible look, it's a sorry look, it's a frantic look."

Scream 4 (2011)
Mask Design: Deluxe Edition Mask
Mask Trivia: The mask used in Scream 4 is called 'the Deluxe Edition' for a reason - it's made from stronger, thicker rubber and even comes with a pearlescent finish. Fancy!
