The season 5 finale of Game of Thrones left most of us reeling as a fan-favorite was stabbed to death, betrayed by his own. But the fans of the popular series, created by author, George R.R. Martin, aren't ready to accept Jon Snow's death just yet. Theories have been being thrown around for months about Jon's real fate and whether or not the creators of the HBO series are just toying with us.

Perhaps said theories will finally be put to rest.

Dead is dead is dead.

According to HBO executive, Michael Lombardo, Jon Snow is officially dead. D-E-A-D.

"Dead is dead is dead. He be dead. Yes. Everything I've seen, heard and read, he is dead," Lombardo said on Thursday during the Television Critics Association's summer press tour (per The Wrap).

So, although we've all be told time and again that Jon Snow is he? Or maybe a better question is simply, will Kit Harington be returning next season? Whether or not Jon is dead, that doesn't mean that he's not coming back as a Walker. There are numerous theories, some that make more sense than others.

Regardless of what we believe or want to believe, one thing is clear: the writers want us to think (know) he's gone for good.

Along with his comments on Jon Snow, Michael Lombardo also said that the series will probably only run eight seasons. The book series is supposed to end after seven books, so...Make of that what you will.

Lombardo did say that he'd be open to doing a prequel show, set during a previous struggle for the Iron Throne.

What do you think? Will Jon Snow returned next season? Or is he REALLY dead?

Do you want more than eight seasons of Game of Thrones? Would you be interested in watching a prequel series?

Is Jon Snow really dead?
