The Jungle Book is the sequel to Robin Hood. Now, wait! Before you close this tab thinking that this Moviepilot Author is just flat-out crazy, just hear me out.
As you know, Disney's The Jungle Book came out in 1967 and later Disney's Robin Hood was released 1973. However, in actual chronological order, Robin Hood happens in time before The Jungle Book, based on the villages, towns, and clothing in the films.
With that being said, The Jungle Book is a continuation of Robin Hood. Here's the evidence:
Prince John is Dethroned
At the end of Robin Hood we see Prince John dethroned and imprisoned with his assistance, Hiss the Snake, the Sheriff, and the two vultures. After many years of Hiss being beat up and yelled at, I am guessing Hiss is ready to leave Prince John.
Lets assume that Hiss left Prince John after he was dethroned because he didn't see a reason to stay and help him.
Hiss becomes Kaa
After Hiss leaves England, he moves back to where he came from: the Jungle. In the Jungle, he wants to start a new life and changes his name to Kaa. With his new identity and location, he doesn't have to take orders from a lousy lion.
We can see multiple incidents where Hiss and Kaa are the same snake. They are both the same color and both have hypnotic powers. If that doesn't prove my fan theory, what does?
I realize that Kaa from The Jungle Book is longer than Hiss, but Hiss could have grown older and grown bigger after leaving England.
Vultures leave England
Since, Hiss went to the Jungle after his jail time, I bet lots of the bad guys seen in Robin Hood left England too, including one of the vultures seen above. In the Jungle we can see that he got older....
....and he joined a vulture boy band. It looks like he ended up with a happy ending, and he looks happy.
Little John becomes Baloo
At the end of Robin Hood, we see Robin Hood riding off into the sunset with his new wife, Maid Marian. Little John has been replaced. Maid Marian has become Robin Hood's new #1.
Saddened that he has been replaced, Little John leaves Nottingham and goes to the Jungle. He becomes more relaxed and like a real bear. Now, I realize that one bear is brown and one is grey, but let me support my theory. After stripping from his clothes, being out in the jungle, in the sun, could change the pigment of his hair.
There are tons of parallels in both movies that proves that they are the same bear.
Similar to Hiss changing his name to Kaa, Little John changes his name to Baloo, as a new, easy-going identity. It seems as though he still dancing with friends.
So that is my fan theory on how The Jungle Book is simply as sequel to Robin Hood. To recap:
End of Robin Hood:
-Hiss and a Vulture leave England to start a new life and get away from Prince John
-After being replaced as Robin Hood's #1 animal in his life by Maid Marian, Little John leaves England also
Beginning of Jungle Book:
-Hiss grows into a full adult snake, and changes his name to Kaa
-The Vulture joins a Vulture singing group, and finds friends
-Little John changes his name to Baloo
