With recent news of Hawkman joining the growing cast of [DC's Legends of Tomorrow](tag:2937021), fans were clued in to the fact that the lineup of heroes announced thus far, with promotional images to boot, weren't the only main players on the show.
It's been known for some time that Vandal Savage would be the team's primary antagonist, and now, Warner Bros has announced that Danish actor Casper Crump will fill the immortal enemy's shoes on Legends of Tomorrow, as well as Arrow and The Flash. Alongside their announcement, the company released a brief description of the character's in-show history:
"Vandal Savage is immortal, having spent the past 6,000 years moving like a virulent disease through history, whispering in the ears of despots and dictators, all leading to his eventual domination of the world."
Well, someone had a lot of time on their hands. Vandal Savage has had a long-running history in the comic book universe, originally appearing in Green Lantern Issue 10 in 1944, then moving forward to terrorize other superheroes throughout the DC universe. This will be the character's first live-action appearance, giving the team of superheroes a distinctly dangerous foe.
Crump is no stranger to the small screen, but has not appeared too heavily in stateside media just yet. Next year, the actor is set to portray Captain Kerchover alongside Margot Robbie and Alexander Skarsgård, in the Warner Brothers and Dark Horse Entertainment's live-action adaptation of Tarzan.
While there are no futher details on Vandal Savage's motives, it's just a matter of time before Crump's new villain comes to life and wreaks havoc throughout the DC Television Universe.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow premieres in 2016.
