The pair have worked together since The Muppet Show's debut in the 1970s, but unfortunately at a press conference at the annual Television Critics Association press tour in Los Angeles Tuesday, Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog announced they were going their separate ways.
Kermit and Piggy initially broke the news in joint statements on Facebook, stating,
There doesn't seem to be any hard feelings between the stars since they'll be teaming up for the upcoming television series The Muppets, which will be a Office-style mockumentary series starring Kermit and his Muppet friends as they produce a late-night talk show hosted by Miss Piggy.
As for their reasons for parting ways, Kermit was keen to make clear that it was his porcine partner who had initiated the split.
Kermit Has Moved On With Another Pig?
However, Kermit has moved on with a new swine named Denise who will also be featured on The Muppets. Denise serves as Head of Marketing on Up Late with Miss Piggy, and there will surly be drama between the two pigs.
Breakups this year have been extremely heartbreaking, for instance Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, but this has to be one of the most devastating.
Do You Think Kermit And Miss Piggy Will Get Back Together?
The Muppets airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET beginning Sept. 22 on ABC
