Zoom may cause a ruckus in Central City when The Flash returns, but the Scarlet Speedster will have a new ally to turn to when the going gets tough.
Insurgent star Keiyan Lonsdale has been tapped to play Wally West, the alter ego of The Flash's sidekick, Kid Flash.
Does Lonsdale have the ability to bring to life Wally West? Flash executive producer Andrew Kriesberg seems to think so, he says:
“Just like when we met Grant for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero. We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show.”
In recent adaptions of the character, Wally West has been portrayed as a young red head who mimics the exact conditions that gave Barry Allen his powers, in order to gain his super speed. Since then, the character has gone through major changes following The New 52 reboot.
It is yet unknown if Wally will don a suit this season, and join The Flash in his battle against Zoom, but the chances of him not doing so are very slim. Then again, Cisco has been on the show for a whole year now, and we are just starting to see his transition into Vibe. Lonsdale will join the cast as a series regular in the winter.
The Flash returns will all new episodes on October 6 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
