Disney Infinity 3.0 is set to be the best game in the Infinity series yet, with exciting additions from the Star Wars franchise and tons more Toy Box Mode options! Early reviews of the game have been overwhelmingly positive, and praised the game's use of the different Star Wars characters and eras, as well as the Marvel superheroes and classic Disney characters. PC Mag reports...

"Disney Infinity gets a massive upgrade with a new 3.0 version that adds Star Wars characters, more Marvel heroes, and revamped combat and racing modes from talented game studios."

So if you're sick of waiting for the new [Star Wars: Battlefront](tag:2684021), maybe give this game a try! There are two different Star Wars packs so far, which span both the movies and the Disney animated shows. And there's just more excitement to come: Disney will release a playset for [Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens](tag:711158) later this year!

With two of the three playsets have already been revealed, and exclusive glimpses at gameplay and the options available in Toy Box Mode, this game is going to be totally awesome! But don't take our word for it - watch a sneak peak here...

If that hasn't got you totally stoked, here's a breakdown of what you can look forward to when Disney Infinity 3.0 is finally released.

Twilight of the Republic

This is the first of the Star Wars packages, and boy does it look exciting! Set in the final years of the Clone Wars, the characters have to fight the separatist army (expect plenty of droids!) using everything at their disposal - lightsabers, blasters, and even force powers.

Choose your characters wisely! Each one has unique talents, and you'll need a lot of skill for the final boss battle. Playing as Yoda, you get the chance to try out his rad acrobatic skills; as Ahsoka you can wield her super fast dual lightsabers; Obi Wan is best at Force push and pull. Developer Ninja Theory have perfected the art of creating epic Jedi fights, and they've really outdone themselves in Disney Infinity 3.0!

But you won't just be swinging that lightsaber in hand-to-hand combat. This playset also features spaceship battles and pod races, meaning you get to experience the entirety of the Star Wars universe!

The Facts

  • Characters: Not only does it feature the prequel film trilogy's characters, like Anakin and Obi Wan, but beloved characters from the Disney show Star Wars: The Clone Wars will also appear! So expect to see Ahsoka Tano fight alongside Yoda and her fellow Jedi Warriors. Anakin and Ahsoka are available in the starter pack, but the rest of the characters are sold separately.
  • Locations: Tattooine, Naboo, Coruscant, Geonosis.
  • Boss battle villain: Darth Maul

And you don't have to wait long: this playset is included in the starter pack, so you can break out those Jedi moves as soon as you get the game!

Rise Against the Empire

This is what we've all been waiting for! Set during the Rebellion era, you can join the original trilogy's characters in the fight against the evil Empire. To contrast the previous playset's focus on lightsaber battles, this gameplay will feature a more diverse set of activities. There are X-Wings aplenty in the exciting space battles, and you can also weave amongst the AT-ATs on icy Hoth. And be sure to trust your feelings for your final mission to take down the Death Star!

The Facts

  • Characters: Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia are included in the starter pack, with Han Solo, Chewie, and Darth Vadar as additions. You'll also get the chance to play as the animated Star Wars: Rebels characters, who are also available for separate purchase.
  • Locations: Hoth, Jabba's Palace, Endor, space (for battles against Star Destroyers!)
  • Boss battle: make sure you're ready - you have to take down not one, but two Death Stars! And the Emperor is waiting to give you a final test...

Oh, and you might want to be careful with those AT-ATs on Hoth - our sources tell us that unlike the unwieldy machines in the films, these babies turn pretty sharply!

There will be an awakening...

This isn't all Disney Infinity 3.0 has in store for us: a pre-film release The Force Awakens package will be revealed later this year! Could we get some hints for the movie plot in the gameplay? Keep your eyes peeled for news!
