It's the same tale that's told time and time again. A former child star sadly cannot handle her fame, as well as her liquor and drugs.
Unfortunately, Kim Richards is none too different. This former child star has recently been reported to be living in her car. Most recently, she was arrested for allegedly stealing $600 worth of toys from a Target in Southern California.
Richards is most known for her roles in Nanny and the Professor, Escape to Witch Mountain, and Little House on the Prairie. Most recently, she appeared on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Before attending rehab, Richards had been living with her sister, while keeping her possessions in storage. Since leaving rehab last month, she has been homeless and living out of her car. She lost her rental house in the Valley due to financial issues.
On Sunday, August 2nd, the former child star was stopped by security while at a Target in San Fernando Valley with three carts filled with $600 worth of toys that she didn't pay for. She was arrested and her bail was set at $5,000. She was released the next day.
Her ex-husband Monty Brinson finds her actions shocking and incredibly out of character:
"I couldn't imagine Kim stealing or shoplifting anything. She is a giver. I am in complete shock. Guaranteed this must be some kind of mistake, and the facts will come out soon. She was arrested for shopliftin toys in a cart, but this was a clear misunderstanding. This was not alcohol - or drug - related."
Richards was arrested earlier this year in April at the Beverly Hills Hotel after trespassing, resisting arrest, battery on a police officer, and being publicly intoxicated after an incident had occurred at the Polo Lounge located inside the hotel.
If her actions on Season 5 of Real House of Beverly Hills are any indication of how much she hasn't changed, then it seems Richards will continue to spiral down quickly. I am hoping this lady can find the strength within her to turn her life around and focus on her kids and perhaps working on her own passionate career.
