It's been confirmed by Dana Walden and Gary Newman that "Prison Break" will be returning to FOX as an "event series".
The series will see the return of stars Dominic Purcell as Lincoln Burrows and Wentworth Miller as the master mind Michael Scofield.
Fox Chairman and CEO Dana Walden said "I would describe it as a bit of a sequel, it picks up the characters several years after we left them in the last season of the show."
As some of us may know, Miller's character Michael Scofield's fate was sealed at the end of "The Final Break". How they plan to get around that is going to be pretty tricky, but I think they are going to attempt to get us to forget it ever happened.
“The brothers will be back. Some of the iconic characters from that show will be back. It definitely will address some questions that were set up at the end of the series and for a new audience… It’ll start after where we left the Scofields in the final season.” said Waldon
“I don’t think he’s going to completely ignore what happened in that episode, but what he pitched to us was a very logical and believable explanation in the world of Prison Break for why are character’s alive and still moving around the world.” added Walden
Seems like they might also be considering bringing back some of the main characters from the original series.
“He had a very detailed incredible story for why these characters become relevant again and why they’re back,” added Newman
I would assume that this is just a confirmation that they are going to start working on the series and not much else has been done.
This is a good thing for Prison Break fans. Since last season of "The Flash", where we saw Purcell and Miller get together to take on The Flash, we had thoughts of those good "Prison Break" days.
