Going into Season 3 of Marvel's [Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.](tag:722469) means speculating on the loose ends and cliffhangers left behind during last season's epic finale. One of the many mysteries that Coulson and his team have been left with are the whereabouts of bio-chem genius Jemma Simmons, and the team's individual reactions going into the next season seem to vary on a wide scale.
Series co-lead Chloe Bennet, who plays Daisy Johnson (also known as Quake, formerly known as Skye) voiced her concerns over the matter while on ABC's summer press tour:
There’s a big time jump. I feel like everyone’s almost come to terms with it in their own way, except for Fitz.
Elizabeth Henstridge, who plays Simmons on the show, spoke a little more in-depth about the whereabouts of her character, as well as the bond between she and Fitz, noting that it's Fitz' personal mission to bring back Jemma:
It’s a solo mission. What happened was so crazy and there was no trace of her, that what do you do? She disappeared into this rock that goes to liquid sometimes, but we don’t know why and we don’t know when. I think that the whole team has tried and nothing has worked, so at some point you have to go, ‘She’s gone, we have to move on.’ But Fitz refuses to do that.
As for when we'll see Fitz again, the actress says that fans won't have to wait very long:
We’re now on episode 2, but we will find out. It’s not something that will be strung out too long. I think the repercussions of it will be a huge part of this season, and that will be a bit more of a slow burn, as will the Inhumans, Daisy and Mack are heading up that team.
With the involvement of the Inhumans and [Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409) filming well underway, the developments of Season 3 are lining up to contribute some very interesting elements to Marvel's growing on-screen universe.
