Ridley Scott's Prometheus may not be universally loved by science fiction fans, but apparently it's earned enough good will to finally get a sequel in production.
While talking to the print edition of Total Film magazine, Scott claimed he has penciled Prometheus 2 filming into his insanely busy schedule. According to the Alien director, Prometheus 2 will begin filming around January 2016, with Scott adding, "I’ve got back into the sci-fi thing, I kind of adore it".
We know there have been several drafts for a sequel to the 2012 sci-fi, but it's currently unclear what exactly the sequel will entail. The end of Prometheus saw Noomi Rapace flying off with Michael Fassbender's android head in order to track down the enigmatic Engineers and it only seems right that this storyline will continue. One of the drafts also reportedly included more versions of the Fassbender android, meaning he could feasibly return for a sequel.
However, until the guys actually arrive on a set, I wouldn't get too excited. Ridley Scott is working on several films at various different stages of production, including the soon to be released The Martian, so unless the scheduling is completely finalized, this information could change.
