When it comes to reboots you can expect that the movie wont be much like the original, but I was shocked to say the least to see just how different Fantastic Four was. Although the key elements were kept in place, this version was almost like a whole new story.
While it was a great movie, I have to say I was a little disappointed. Normally Marvel movies are jam packed with action and humor, but this movie lacked both. Don't get me wrong, there was action, most of it towards the end, but not enough for the MCU.
The movie was a bit slow most of the time. You would think it would be to build up the intensity or suspense, but sadly that was just how the story progressed. However there were some great parts in the movie, like the addition of new elements to the storyline, some which were a bit interesting.
I was expecting the human torch to light things up a bit with his usual bright personality and humor, but we didn't get much outta him. Sorry Michael B. Jordan, but I guess no one will ever top Chris Evans as Johnny Storm.
I loved how we are given a deeper look into Reed Richard and Ben Grimm's past. It added way more meaning to the story.
At the end of the movie, the four are relocated to another city which is also the home of a DC comics superhero, which I thought was a really interesting addition to the plot.
We all know who resides in Central City don't we?
For a second I thought the movie wasn't going to include the Thing's famous line, but sure enough, when it came to the climactic final battle, it was clobbering time!
The cast was great! Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell each did such an amazing job. I loved how they each bought their characters to life in a way that was different from the original Fantastic Four, but still remained true to their unique personalities.
While this was a good movie that people will enjoy, with an intriguing storyline, and some great action scenes, in my opinion, it just didn't reach that level of Marvel epicness that we are used to.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see if the sequel really will be fantastic.
