I love the escapism of movies.

Since 2008, Marvel Studios has rolled out 12 films connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beginning with Iron Man. Though most can agree that these films are amazing, we all still have different opinions within the series of diverse characters. Here, I will share my opinion on these films, and would also love for you to share yours. Here is my ranking of the MCU films, thus far;

  • 1. The Avengers

This epic union was a real treat. It was the second time Loki stole the show, and, to seal the deal.... "We have a HULK."

  • 2. Iron Man

I'm not sure exactly who owes the other more, Marvel, or Robert Downey Jr.? Either way, I'm glad that the two of you finally met.

  • 3. Iron Man 2

This film only had the benefit of an expanding MCU for it's artistic merit. However, it has such a high ranking because of it's entertainment value, in my opinion. The character was already established, we're adding a lot more to the big picture, and it was simply a lot of fun.

  • 4. Avengers: Age of Ultron

I only rank this awesome sequel so 'low' for the sole reason that it was far more jollier than darker, as promised, and yet, somehow still wasn't as engaging as the first Avengers. Though, I will say I believe James Spader did his job well, as usual. The film may have been a little more heavy on the popcorn value than critic's opinion, not that there's anything wrong with that.

  • 5. Thor: The Dark World

The answer to this film's ranking is simple. Loki. Arguably my favorite character in the MCU, and still commands attention in this film. Ultimately, overall, the film is a worthy sequel.

  • 6. Ant-Man

The most recent film on this list, and ranks where it does because of it's surprise factor. This film had been in development before the MCU itself, and had years of set backs, all the way up to final production. The film is very different than the rest of the MCU, yet still manages to fit right in. To top that off, it ranks high with comedy and tugged at my heart strings a time, or two. A much welcomed surprise overall.

  • 7. Thor

This is the film that was the final validation on whether The Avengers would work or not, and I believe it was done very well. It brought fantasy to Earth in a mighty way.

  • 8. The Incredible Hulk

Hulk smash! Why does Hollywood continue to tease us with potentially one of the best characters in the mix? Though he was recast, this film still counts as part of the MCU, and should probably be higher on this list, the more I think about it.

  • 9. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

This film is an amazing thriller with some fun twists. It could almost stand alone as a great film even if you replaced the characters and setting entirely. Critically, one of the best in the series.

  • 10. Guardians of the Galaxy

Come on, you have to admit that it's pretty tough to rank all of these films! This film is very grand in it's own right. Great characters and every other ingredient that you need a great film to have.

  • 11. Captain America: The First Avenger

A great origin story that only lacked a little bit more work put into, or taken out of, the final act. It still serves as being the final piece needed to make the Avengers assemble.

  • 12. Iron Man 3

By default, in my opinion, any film with Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark is a good one. However, having said that, this film sits in this rank only because there isn't a 13th position yet.

So that's just my opinion. What is your ranking of the MCU films thus far, Marvel fans? Take the poll below and come back and see how your favorite film ranks!
