I've just been to see the Fantastic Four reboot in the cinema. I've also seen nothing but bad reviews for the film. I'm going to point out THE THINGs (sorry for that) I think they did well and not so well.

I didn't hate the movie. I didn't love it, either. It's not the best marvel film ... but it is in no way the worst.

I'll try and keep this spoiler free.

This is all MY OPINION. Don't beat me if you disagree with what I say.

Everyone had a go because a certain someone was cast as Johnny Storm. Michael B Jordan is a great actor and is a great Human Torch. Jessica is a Latino woman who was cast as Sue Storm in the 2005 and 2007 movies. Everyone seemed fine with it. Why is this different?

Kate Mara and Michael B Jordan have great chemistry and they pull off the brother and sister dynamic well.

The film had some good CGI and Mo-Cap (motion capture). I don't have a lot to say in this section but it was quite appealing to my eyes.

Jamie Bell. Kate Mara. Michael B Jordan. Miles Teller. All four are rising stars in Hollywood and all are great actors. Their talent shows through in the film. There are bits of dialogue that sound out of place but that's down to the writer(s) not the actors.

I've already said about the dynamic between Johnny and Sue. It was on point.

The film gives an accurate representation of the Fantastic Four. You see Reed's regret, Ben's anger, Johnny's cockiness, and Sue's cool headedness. You got to see the dynamic change and these characteristics flourish.

In the comics Dr Doom is the ruler of Latveria. He cares deeply for his people and most of his early plans were him trying to better his country using science, magic, and force.

What's wrong with that? Nothing.

Why does Fox keep changing it? I personally would love to see this. This time we see a scientist who gets messed up by science. NO. I want an accurate Doom.

Raise your hand if you know the Fantastic Four origin story. Everyone knows four origin stories (Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Fantastic Four). Those four don't need more origin story films. Other comic properties, such as Ant Man and Cyborg, may need origin stories.

Whilst the origin in this movie was different, it wasn't needed.

I don't have much to say on this. There were (maybe) two good action scenes. A few more couldn't have hurt.

Bare with me on this one.

I think the main reason people didn't like the film is because they compared it to the recent Ant Man film. Ant Man is the second best Marvel film (the best being Guardians of the Galaxy). Is the Fantastic Four reboot as good as Ant Man or Guardians of the Galaxy? NO. Is it as bad as Iron Man 2 or X-Men 3? NO.

The film is good. It's no Christopher Nolan masterpiece but it's also not a Michael Bay shit fest (excuse my French).

Fantastic Four isn't a bad movie. I'm giving it 6 out of 10.

If you've got a few hours to spare it's a good way to spend them. Don't go in and expect a masterpiece. Go in and expect an average film.

Let's hope the planned sequel is better.

Did you like the movie?
