If you have been living under a rock these few days you might missed that Fantastic Four opened this week and it had the lowest superhero movie opening of all time.

I personally haven't seen the movie only saw few reviews and they stated that movie is no go. I myself will see it myself that is movie no go or go go.

The reason behind that I'm hopeful of good movie is that it does has great cast. Story wise I will decide later when I watch it but I actually love this cast.

Anyways lets take a look at other superhero movies that bombed the box office before Fantastic Four. This would be a list known to many movie watchers.

Batman & Robin (1997)

Even poster is flop one
Even poster is flop one
  • Budget: $125 million
  • Domestic Gross: $107,325,195

Batman at that time was not considered as great super hero but considered as bad franchise. Nor George Clooney as Batman nor Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze could help that cause. At that time Batman had two great movies (Batman & Batman Returns) which were dark and gritty but somehow studio and Joel thought to give Batman more friendly look that was the worst mistake ever. George Clooney even apologized for the movie later. Of course this killed any hope for the franchise future and decade later Nolan hold the throne for Batman.

Daredevil (2003)

Marvel's Batman
Marvel's Batman
  • Budget: $78 million
  • Domestic Gross: $102,543,518

Time when connected universe was not that big of a deal and super hero movies were just movies with origin stories. Marvel's Daredevil was given a go with Ben Affleck as the blind devil who saves Hells Kitchen from Kingpin. To date this is worst comic book adaption with dull performances by overall cast, we don't even know how to spawn a spinoff Elektra.

Hulk (2003)

You wont like me ever!
You wont like me ever!
  • Budget: $137 million
  • Domestic Gross: $132,177,234

During same time when people were just introduced to superhero movies like Daredevil, Sam Raimi' Spiderman. Marvel gave its first go to Hulk with Eric Bana as Bruce Banner. As origin story and just that I liked this. It even had its movie transition like a comic. Performance it was ok but what I think was the problem was it was 2003 but its CGI was outdated, it was too bad. Even though movie flopped story was continued in the Edward Norton Incredible Hulk. Which it self was not big hit but again story was used for Avengers Hulk by third actor Mark Ruffalo. After giving the big guy so many chance I think studio has learn that it can make a good Hulk movie right now.

Catwoman (2004)

Recipe for disaster
Recipe for disaster
  • Budget: $43 million
  • Domestic Gross: $24,409,722

We all remember Michelle Pfeiffer as the catwoman and my god it was sexy and perfect. Lets just say and finish that Halle Berry as catwoman was made sexy on purpose which didn't looked good at all. To date I have seen this movie whole cause that bad it is. Basically a movie no one was ready nor wanted.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

  • Budget: $130 million
  • Domestic Gross: $131,921,738

Even though first one didn't do that good, studio still picked up the movie for a sequel, why? I think because of the exciting cast or Fox just didn't wanted their rights go back to Marvel for not making another movie. This is just a example of movie where source material isn't used. Makers didn't show what watchers wanted to watch.

Elektra (2005)

Trained to Kill?
Trained to Kill?
  • Budget: $43 million
  • Domestic Gross: $24,409,722

Ah! making a spinoff of a flop movie, classic Hollywood. At time of release only Spiderman spawned a sequel of a superhero movie and it was great, Elektra tried to save Daredevil franchise but it just flopped even more. Making Daredevil franchise to disappear up until Marvel gave it a fresh new look as TV Series with Netflix Marvel's Daredevil.

The Green Lantern (2011)

Green Lantern? Deadpool?
Green Lantern? Deadpool?
  • Budget: $200 million
  • Domestic Gross: $116,601,172

DC with hopes to create its Movie universe with Green Lantern, failed miserably, even fan favorite Green lantern nor Ryan Reynolds could save the movie. Poor script with horrible performances. At the time it was clear that DC cant do anything except a Batman movie since Superman Return didn't worked as well.

Spiderman 3 (2007)

Amazing Spiderman 3
Amazing Spiderman 3
  • Budget: $250 million
  • Domestic Gross: $336,530,303

Speaking of numbers Spiderman 3 was success and of course it has to be mentioned here Spiderman being only Superhero movie at that time to spawn a 3 great movies. Yes, for me Spiderman 3 was good movie, but involvement of studio didn't help the cause years later we saw a reboot with same problem and now we seeing a reboot again. Fans of comic book particularly hated this one but has a complete set of trilogy it was a decent movie with decent performance and overall fine story.

So there it is, feel free to criticize the list or comment if you like or agree with it. Let me also know which of these is worst movie you ever saw by doing the poll.

Will be seeing Fantastic Four soon and will decide if it deserves a position in this list or not! have anyone of you seen it yet let me know that too in comments.
