At a recent press junket for his upcoming DirectTV original series, Kingdom, Frank Grillo spoke briefly with Slashfilm about his role in [Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409) as HYDRA agent-turned-new-baddie, Crossbones. With filming still underway on Marvel's next installment to their Cinematic Universe, the actor wasn't able to reveal much, but did manage to detail his character a little bit -- including a peek at the changes that he's undergone from his comic book counterpart.
At the end of Captain America: The Winter Solider, Grillo's Brock Rumlow was left barely alive and badly burned in the wake of his betrayal to Captain America. Grillo touched a little on where Crossbones is physically when we find him in Civil War:
The scars are not healed. The scars are terribly bad but the helmet comes off and you get to see that.
While Crossbones will hold a presence in the film, the role doesn't seem like a very big one, and it's not yet determined whether we'll be seeing this new arch nemesis returning in future films. Regardless, Grillo seemed to enjoy his time on set, however brief:
It’s a lot of physical stuff, without giving too much away, but there is a little bit of everything ... It’s a big movie. There’s a lot of characters in the film so it’ll be interesting to see what it looks like all cut together. There’s so many people in the movie.
In the meantime, the actor seems to have had his fair share of enjoyment over fan reactions to his recent Instagram posts from the set of the film.
Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
