Along with giving posts of my movie reviews, I will be doing box office predictions. I will be giving my top 5 picks from the weekend and next week I will recap and analyze the box office numbers.
1. Straight Outta Compton- $41 million
This film is getting forecasted to open higher but I don't think it goes to those heights. With the Fantastic Four disappointing and Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation heading into its third weekend, this will be easily number one this weekend with its interesting biopic premise and great reviews so far.
2. The Man from U.N.C.L.E- $20 million
If Mission Impossible hasn't been doing so well, I think this film would open higher. With decent reviews so far and Fantastic Four not doing well this film will appeal to the action older crowd with it being based on a 60s tv show.
3. Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation- $15 million
No one expected this film to repeat as number one last weekend but due to poor reviews on Fantastic Four and Mission Impossible holding well, it managed to win with about $3 million seperation. I think this film will drop another 50% with The Man from U.N.C.L.E coming out taking its target audience.
4. Fantastic Four- $12.5 million
I didn't expect the film to totally disappoint the way it did. Word is that Fox is still forging its way for a sequel so that may encourage people to see it but I see this film dropping at least 50%, possibly even more.
5. The Gift- $7 million
The film opened up to a solid $11.8 million on a production budget of only $5 million. With good reviews by audiences and critics alike, this should be in the theaters for at least 2 more weeks.
Those are my box office predictions for the weekend so expect a box office recap either Sunday or Monday.
