As fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we are constantly looking for the next piece of news to break. Yesterday, UFC Women's Champion Ronda Rousey gave us all something to think about as she said she wants to play Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, in Marvel's first, female-led feature film.

Now, before I get accused of having this set up as a bash piece let me say I actually like Rousey. I think she is incredibly beautiful and a great fighter. I simply don't believe she possesses the acting quality that a role like Carol Danvers calls for. You can read a whole article I wrote on Captain Marvel in the MCU here.

Ronda Rousey: unrivalled
Ronda Rousey: unrivalled

Rousey only has two notable film appearances to her name, one as a young blood member brought in for Expendables 3, and her other one was as a lackluster head of security in Furious 7. While her role in Expendables 3 did have some character depth, even there it was rather shallow. I know the Expendables movies aren't built around deep characters and storylines, so she wasn't given a lot to work with. Ultimately, I just have a very hard time seeing Rousey able to carry an entire movie about a character like Carol Danvers.

All that being said, I still would love to see Rousey in the MCU. I believe she could play a good villain. Someone like Titania, one of She-Hulk's nemeses, or maybe even Songbird, of the Thunderbolts. There are plenty of places I believe Ronda Rousey could fit into the MCU, I just don't believe Carol Danvers is the role for her.
