For over a year now, the state of the DC Extended Universe (the official name they're using in place of the standard Cinematic Universe) has been a hot point of debate for fans of the comic house's classic superheroes. After several reboots and takes on Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and more, fans are wondering if the newly-established franchise will hold up against it's predecessors. With talk of contracts extending for at least Ben Affleck, it seems like there's been a long-term plan in place for a while.
But now, Superman himself, actor Henry Cavill, has spoken. While on tour promoting [The Man From U.N.C.L.E.](tag:44548), the charming Brit took a little time to talk about [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice](tag:711870) and the plans that Warner Bros has for the universe.
There’s a big plan in place at WB for the whole DC franchise. So, all of this stuff ties in. They’re not thinking from movie to movie, they’re thinking from a big tent pole type thing and each story has its own story, which is attached to the major issue. Yeah, there’s a big plan.
The actor also revealed a bit of his geeky roots in the interview, including his history with the legendary World of Warcraft gaming franchise.
I used to play a lot. I haven’t played in a long time. I heard it just got good again ... [with the film adaptation of] World of Warcraft, I’m excited to see what it’s like because that’s a hard thing to translate, and there are a lot of people who feel strongly about the lore in that, so we will see.
So, there you have it - not only is Superman confident enough to stick around for a while, but it seems like he's probably got a lvl 90 Paladin kicking around in the depths of an old server.
