So, Entertainment Weekly just released a bunch of new pictures and an interview with J.J. Abrams. In that interview, we get to learn a bit about our new [Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens](tag:711158) characters. Now, I'm not the biggest of Star Wars fans, unlike the rest of the world.
You can thank George Lucas' prequels for making me feel that way by the way. But, this latest film has me quite excited. As a filmmaker myself, I love that this was shot on 35mm film. A rarity nowadays, and according to Abrams, practical effects work and set design will be favored over CGI.
So, enough of my opinion, let's get to the friggin' names already.
First of all, that's a sweet name. General Hux. So badass. Domhall Gleeson has become quite the delight to watch, his work in About Time and Ex Machina was of varying degree, and it makes me so happy that he gets to be a baddie in Star Wars. I mean, it's pretty obvious, he's a bad guy, he's wearing black.
Before I knew this character's name, all I knew that a lady is hiding under that helmet. Well, at least we now know her name.
Finn and Rey
We have not been made privy of these characters last names, and that points to one thing and one thing only. They're descendants of previous characters.
As I said, the bad guys have it down in the name category man. Just imagine being called on in class as a kid. Teacher say 'Is Kylo Ren present?' and then he replies 'Yes.'
Hmm, sounded much cooler in my head.
But again, all we know about this character is, that he's a bad guy. The red lightsaber is a dead giveaway, might a smell a connection to Darth Maul?
Fun Fact : J.J. Abrams assistant's name is Dameron, thus how this character got his last name.
A bouncy looking character, who, if you look really hard resembles the letters it's named after. He kind of looks like the letter 'B' and the number '8'.
Now, in the hands of non Star Wars fans, this information is useless. But in the hands of a Star Wars fan. I think this pretty much sums it up.
I am excited man, as I said earlier I'm not that into Star Wars after I viewed the abomination known as the prequels. Seriously those should be called 'The ones that should not be named.' Heck, they're more terrifying than Voldemort.
But I digress. I hope you enjoyed this new piece of information people.
Thanks for reading and remember to love yourselves.
