Over the years, numerous actors have taken on the role of the Joker. From Jack Nicholson, to Heath Ledger, and most recently Jared Leto's portrayal, each one brings something unique to the table.
Recently we all stopped to rejoice when it was reported that Batman voice acting veteran Mark Hamill will likely voice the Joker in Batman: The Killing Joke, but for the feature-length LEGO Movie spinoff, Warner Bros. has another familiar face in mind to play Batman's archenemy with the the maniacal smile.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the real-life comedian Zach Galifianakis is in final negotiations to take over the voice of the Joker in upcoming LEGO Batman Movie!
Teaming up with other Hollywood funnymen, Galifinakis will play the villain opposite Will Arnett, who is reprising his role of the hilariously gruff LEGO Batman.
Joining Arnett in the LEGO film is his nephew on Arrested Development, Michael Cera, who was cast to play his sidekick, Robin.
The LEGO Movie's animation supervisor, Chris McKay, is set to direct the spinoff project penned by Seth Grahame-Smith (Dark Shadows, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies).
I don't know about you, but I think this is a fantastic casting decision. There's something about Zach Galifianakis that is goofy with just a hint of darkness and insanity when the time calls for it. I'm interested to see how this all turns out!
The LEGO Batman Movie is expected to be released on February 10, 2017.
