Glorious indie games. E3 was jam packed with astoundingly beautiful indie titles from all over the world this year and getting to try some of them at Gamescom was awesome! Microsoft were proud to show off some of the more innovative ideas they'll be promoting in the years to come and we should all keep an eye on their development.
Sea of Thieves and Cuphead will be arriving on the XBOX One in 2015, whereas Sword Coast Legends is less than a month away from its release date for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Each one offers a completely alternative gaming experience, but I think each one has the potential to get our attention. Let's take a look at these three titles and let us know if you're looking forward to checking them out!
3 Indie Games Worth Waiting for On Xbox One
The Xbox One hasn't had a big exclusive release in a very long time. The last game I can recall picking up was Ori and the Blind Forest, and that was released in March! Of course, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Halo 5 are still on the way for 2015, but the PS4 has featured so many exclusive titles this year like Bloodborne, [The Order: 1886](tag:2707754), The Vanishing of Ethan Carter and Helldivers. Let's hope that these games can help Microsoft in 2015 and 2016.
Sword Coast Legends
"From the Director of Dragon Age: Origins" - sold! Dragon Age: Origins is still the best game in this trilogy and one of Bioware's finest accomplishments. It was a true RPG, with some of the best characters they've ever written. None of the sequels captured the emotional power and insane joy that Origins contained.
Therefore, the fact that its director has made the move from a AAA RPG to a more classic Dungeons and Dragons style game can only be a good thing. The rest of the Dragon Age series was far more action-focused, and it'll be great to see the man who defined the series head his own project with Sword Coast Legends. Be sure to check out the trailer here!
This game is insanely hard - Studio MDHR made that very clear in their presentations. Having engaged with it at Gamescom, I can tell you that Cuphead will drive you and your friends insane. Allegedly the game is 70% boss fights, and based on the small amount of them that I had the opportunity to face, you're in for a tough time.
But aside from its difficulty, Cuphead is beautifully animated, wickedly funny and constantly supported by an incredible soundtrack. It'll be a must-buy once it gets its release date for the Xbox One and I sincerely hope they've found a captivating way to join all of these bosses together!
Sea of Thieves
Sea of Thieves will be blasting onto the Xbox One in 2016, and it looks like an incredible return from Rare Ltd. It'll be a multiplayer game, possibly both online and local, in which we all take to the seas in pursuit of gold! You've got to check out the trailer below if you've yet to see it, because for some, this was the best thing at E3.
Let us know which of these games you're most excited for and whether there's another indie game out there that you're dying to play on either Xbox One or PS4!
