Ever heard of Scooby-Doo 3? Didn't think so. That is because they never made one! After the live-action films Scooby-Doo, and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, the producers left the series to create two reboot television original movies, Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins and Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster.

But, what if after Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, Warner Bros. studios created another film to make a trilogy. The cast fit the characters so well that it could have worked out. This article is dedicated to see what would have happened if Scooby-Doo 3 would have been released. These are all of my hypothetical thoughts and opinions. Enjoy!

Title & Release Date

The title of the third installment would be Scooby-Doo 3: Phantom Fright. Scooby-Doo was released on June 14 of 2002, and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed was released two years later on March 26, 2004. So, Scooby-Doo 3: Phantom Fright would be in theaters on Friday, July 14, 2006. The poster would look something like what you see below.

Casting Characters & Villains

The main characters would reprise their roles:

Fred -- Freddie Prinze Jr.

Daphne -- Sarah Michelle Gellar

Velma -- Linda Cardellini

Shaggy -- Matthew Lillard

Scooby-Doo -- Neil Fanning

The villains shown above would be:

Phantom (top, left) -- Michael Emerson

Ghost Clown (top, right) -- Robert Carlyle

Green Phantoms (bottom, left) -- Any Voice Actor

Wax Phantom (bottom, right) -- Any Voice Actor

Ghost of Elias Kingston (right) -- James Spader

Plot of the Film

One year after the aftermath from Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, the city of Coolsville is saved and restored back to normal, but not for long. In the Mystery, Inc. Headquarters, there have been lots of calls related to kidnappings from ghosts. In one recent case, there was a little girl taken outside a diner where the gang was eating supper. They watch her walking, almost like a zombie, into the woods nearby and realize the kidnappings are not actually kidnappings, the missing children are being hypnotized.

Night has fallen, and it is very foggy. They watch from a distance the little girl walking into a cemetery. Fred decides that the gang should split up and look for her. Fred, Daphne, and Velma explore and find various coins on the ground. They look up and see that Daphne is taken and a the Wax Phantom is running off with her. Meanwhile, Shaggy and Scooby are running from the two Green Phantoms. As they are running from the Green Phantoms they get back in the Mystery Machine. Later, Fred and Velma get in the van saddened that they can't find Daphne.

The camera cuts into a dark room of what seems to be a castle where a figure is in the shadows. A door opens, and the Ghost Clown walks in. "I have a message for you, sir. Ha! Ha! We caught one of the menacing mystery kids! Ha! Ha!" The figure in the shadows says, "Then, the rest shall be coming soon.."

Back at the headquarters, Fred is trying to figure out a way to locate Daphne. All the while, Shaggy has problems of his own. Shaggy misses his old girlfriend, Mary Jane (from the first film, Scooby-Doo), and wants to start dating again. This causes conflict between Shaggy and Scooby-Doo. Next, a Phantom shows up at the window, and scares the gang. It is the Phantom. He says, "We have the girl, do not come near us or we will hurt her, and you!" He abruptly vanishes. Velma, while researching the coins they found, finds out that one of the coins has small writing on it with an address.

The next day, they follow the address to a huge, abandoned castle. Eventually, they find Daphne and all of the lost kids in cages. Then, the Ghost Clown, the Phantom, the Wax Phantom, and the two green phantoms enter the room. The Phantom says, "We warned you not to come near us." All of the sudden, a figure comes out of the shadows, it is the Ghost of Elias Kingston.

There is a battle or corral between the gang and the ghosts. Fred and Velma are trapped with the Wax Phantom and the Green Phantoms. Shaggy is hypnotized by the Ghost Clown and goes after Scooby-Doo. Scooby thinks it is because they were fighting before and fights with him. Then when Daphne yells from her cage that they are hypnotizing him. Scooby runs and defeats the Ghost Clown and Ghost of Elias Kingston. Scooby has once again saved the day!

The kids and Daphne are released and the identities of the ghosts are revealed. They were trying to smuggle foreign money (the coins) and they used the children to do the dirty work. No one would suspect the children. Afterward, Mary Jane finds Shaggy in the crowd of news and people when they unmask the ghosts. She says that she wants to get back together, and they do. After a talk with Shaggy, Scooby realizes that they will still be best friends. It is a happy ending to a creepy mystery!

But after the end credits, there is a scene. It shows a tropical, yet swampy island. Savage, tiki music plays in the background at a fast pace. It zooms in very fast up close to what seems to be a native face with facepaint, with its eyes closed. The music rhythm speeds up. The eyes jerk open, and the music instantly stops. The screen goes black.

Now, obviously, the plot wasn't the whole movie, there would be other funny parts to the film too. Well, that is my theory or thoughts on what would happen if they made a third Scooby-Doo movie. I hope you enjoyed it!
