Phases 3 and 4 are going to be tough times for major Marvel fans like myself and probably you, because you're actually reading this.
Let's jump right in to the subject at hand.
The renowned 'Iron Man' has had three major standalone films, the first being 'Iron Man,' released in 2008 which is the opening Phase One film, the other two being 'Iron Man 2' and 'Iron Man 3,' released in 2010 and 2013. 'Iron Man 3' is the only Phase Two film in the bunch, the opening film of the Phase.
Robert Downey Jr, referred to as RDJ, has also starred in two other films. Phase One's closing film 'The Avengers,' released in 2012, and Phase Two's 'The Avenger's : Age of Ultron,' released in 2015.
RDJ has stated a number of times that he will continue working on projects with MARVEL, but was not specific about what projects.
Will there be an Iron Man 4?
Most likely. They are, after all, one of the best-selling MARVEL films. However, let's jump into a few theories as to who is actually playing as Iron Man.
Rumor Number One? Harley.
The Sherlock Holmes actor, RDJ, has hinted numerous times that he will continue playing the playboy philantropist, but rumors have flown that the character Harley from Iron Man 3, when old enough, could indeed be the predecessor to Tony Stark as Iron Man.
This could work, seeing as Harley has impressed Tony Stark in Iron Man 3, showing his extensive knowledge of the Arc Reactor technology and ability to work with the suit.
IMDb has named Harley, as a whole character, 'a mini Tony Stark.'
This is an apt description of Harley, seemingly showing the sarcastic and sassy side of Stark and sharing the same style of humor as our favourite tin can opener.
Harley, in my opinion, could easily be seen as taking over the mantle of Iron Man from Tony Stark in Phase 3 or 4, seeing as Harley would be older by then, and let's face it.
Tony's getting a bit old.
