It's no secret that the last Predator movie, despite a stellar cast, was, well, not so great. 2010's Predators was a lesson in what might have been. But while talking to Collider, producer John Davis says fans should expect director Shane Black (Iron Man 3) to redeem the franchise and erase the mistakes of the past.

Shane’s got a writing partner, Fred Dekker. They’ve been doing it together and Fred’s great. The two of them together, they’ve been in the business for a long time, but the writing is so fresh, the perspective is so fresh. I’m telling you you’re going to get something you don’t expect and you’re going to say, ‘This is the most entertaining way to reinvent a franchise.’ I mean he’s the guy who wrote Iron Man 3.

Now, he may want to back way from pushing the Iron Man 3 thing, considering how some unhappy fans felt about the Mandarin twist. But still, there's no denying that IM3 was a solid, entertaining script and Black a competent director. And with smart sci-fi coming back into vogue, it would be nice to have a Predator movie that does justice to the original, even if there's no real word yet on when this project might be moving forward.

Are you looking forward to it? Or do you think they should just let the Predator franchise go?
