After his role as the somewhat-villainous (or at least certainly not to be trusted) role of Tanileer Tivan, The Collector in last year's Guardians of the Galaxy, actor Benicio Del Toro has seemingly confirmed the rumors that he's set to play another intergalactic villain soon.

Speaking to ET, Del Toro couldn't reveal many details, but indicated that it was pretty much a done deal, as far as he knows:

I can’t tell you much about it but I think that it might happen. It looks like it’s gonna happen so I’m very excited.

Please lord, let him be as hysterically weird as he was in Guardians.

Surprisingly, for an uber-cool actor who got his start in the indie scene, Del Toro also admitted to a deep love of the Star Wars franchise:

I saw the original one when it came out and it marked me. I was impressed by the film and by the characters and by the story and the message.

It's somewhat surprising that Del Toro was so bold in his statement, as that's usually the sort of thing studios, particularly the House of Mouse, try to keep under wraps until made official. However, with tomorrow's D23 Expo panel being dedicated to all things Disney live action, we may very well get confirmation of this casting then.

What do you think? Could you see him as a Star Wars villain? And if so, do you already have a villainous role in mind for him, or do you think he'll be playing a completely new character? Let me hear your thoughts in the comments.
