Cinema and Literature, two of my greatest passions

Each year, no matter if it's a small or big budget production, we discover some new great talent and from that very moment, we start paying attention at this or that actor or actress. Often, it only takes one film for an actor or actress to gain recognition - but that doesn't necessarily mean that their career will immediately take off. Or it may take a little longer for the individual to demonstrate his/her abilities and talent. But once he/she has attracted Hollywood and critics' attention it's really likely that we will eventually see them playing an important role in a movie.

That being said, here's a short list of those emerging actors and actresses that have been around for a while but have just recently gained presence in big scale productions and most importantly it's going to be interesting to see if they could become the next A-list Hollywood stars in the coming years.

Domhnall Gleeson

Forget about Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, the true rising star of the Harry Potter world is none other than Domhnall Gleeson (he didn't need a magic wand to get talent!). He's been working hard to reach the position he is in right now. Back in 2010 we saw him making little appearances in movies like Never Let Me Go and True Grit. Still, his big opportunity came when he was cast as Bill Weasley in the Harry Potter saga. After that, we saw him in Dredd, Anna Karenina, Frank a Calvary. Yet, it was not until after seeing him play the computer programmer Caleb in the sci-fi Ex-Machina that critics started paying attention to his work.

Later this year you'll be watching him in projects like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the much expected Brooklyn (alongside another actress in this list) and Alejandro G. Iñárritu's highly anticipated The Revenant. These films may help consolidate his current status to finally make the jump to the big leagues in Hollywood.

Saoirse Ronan

You may remember her as the kidnapped little girl of Peter Jackson's Lovely Bones, however she delighted us in 2007 with her terrific performance as Briony Tallis in the adaptation of Ian McEwan's Atonement , which also gained her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Ronan's subsequent movies have been relatively small e.g Byzantium and The Host however last year did see a big comeback for her in The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Ronan will appear alongise Domhnall Gleeson in Brooklyn, a film that had received good reviews by critics. She's currently filming The Seagull, based on Anton Chekhov's play of same name. Ronan's incredible talent is unquestionable, the real question is, will she be playing low and safe indie flicks or will she finally dare to pursue big productions to demonstrate what she is made of? Hopefully she'll get to become one of the next big faces of Hollywood.

Dane DeHaan

DeHaan was first widely known from his appearance in Chronicle (yes, the same one directed by the world wide hated Josh Trank). Following that success, you saw him in Lawless, The Place Beyond The Pines and then two great movies like Metallica Through the Never and Kill Your Darlings - in the latter he amazingly incarnated Lucien Carr. He was was also in the unfortunately disappointing The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (personally, I liked his incarnation of Harry Osborn).

Dane has great personality and presence on screen. His acting is convincing too, but he only needs to start picking up more important roles, like the one of James Dean in the upcoming Anton Corbijn's Life, based on the true life relationship between James Dean and photographer Dennis Stock, played by Robert Pattinson.

Elizabeth Olsen

There's really nothing I can say about Elizabeth you don't already know. She's a beautiful, talented actress who immediately gained notoriety after starring in Martha Marcy May Marlene. She kept working in low budget productions until she starred in Spike Lee's Oldboy remake (the film isn't the disaster that many people claim). Olsen then jumped to Hollywood's big blockbusters like the Godzilla remake and Avengers: Age of Ultron. The youngest of the Olsen sisters has proven that, unlike her famously known scandalous sisters, she's a really good actress and she can easily go from indie flicks to Hollywood's most ambitious projects. Next you'll be seeing her in Captain America: Civil War reprising her role as Scarlet Witch.

Adam Driver

Adam Driver is a name for you to remember. Bear in mind these words because Driver's career will rise after Star Wars: The Force Awakens, where he'll be playing a pivotal character as Kylo Ren. He will then be working under Martin Scorsese's direction in Silence. Adam has had minor roles in movies like Lincoln, Inside Llewyn Davis and The F Word, however he impressed us all with his portrayal of an aspiring filmmaker capable of anything in While We're Young. Driver may not have as many films as the other actors or actresses named above, but make no mistake, he is equally talented as the others are.

Time will tell if these actors or actresses will be circling and landing important roles in the coming years in Hollywood, but undoubtedly they all have the potential to become A-list stars.

Who do you think should be the next A-list Hollywood star?
