Oh My God! D23 Expo just dropped the greatest news! At this year's Expo Disney announced an expansion for new lands dedicated to the iconic Star War films! Oh, and for other big movie franchises like Toy Story and Avatar too but Star Wars is the one a lot of people of have been waiting for since Disney took over the galaxies of far far away. The Star Wars-inspired land, Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger has shared that it will the largest single land expansion in the past 60 years. Yay!

“Through each new attraction and new land we create, we push the boundaries of what is possible. And as you can imagine, with Star Wars, we are taking that to a whole new level, with a whole galaxy to explore," Iger stated.

Occurring in California and Florida, (such cruel time to be living in Australia), the land will feature two new rides based on Millennium Falcons spaceship and the Cantina. This means you can actually captain and control the Millennium Falcon and go on your own customised secret mission. I am salivating just thinking about this. This is a nerd overload! I doubt any Star Wars fanatic haven't played out riding on one of the most wanted starships in the galaxy. Don't lie, I know you have.

“We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single-themed land expansion ever,” Iger said. “These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new ‘Star Wars’ planet."

Along with this amazing announcement, Disney released concept art of the new lands, giving anticipating fans a vision of the immersive sights of Star Wars Land. It looks incredible, doesn't it? I'm not even going try to restrain my excitement for any doubts! It looks fantastical!

The Star Wars portion of the presentation also saw director J.J. Abrams on hand with Star Wars: The Force Awakens cast members Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o and Harrison Ford, who received a standing ovation from the 7,500-strong crowd on Saturday afternoon.

“It’s a great thrill to be here with you, who made this whole thing happen. I couldn’t be happier, thank you so much,” Ford said with obvious emotion.

Furthermore, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will feature a new fireworks show to the legendary score of the Star Wars movies on Saturday and Sunday nights. (Dun Dun DunDun...) Another ride is the new, interactive experience called Star Wars Launch Bay where you will basically get a behind-the-scene look into the making of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with special exhibits and opportunities to visit Star Wars characters, as well as a fun gift shop and food court. I wonder if they'll offer Star Wars themed burgers and hot dogs! A Ewok Dog anyone?

In other news, Disney announces The World of Avatar which gives guests an immersive experience to soar above the alien world of Pandora on top of a Banshee. I remember watching that scene and totally predicting that it's going to be a ride. It sounds thrilling!

Meanwhile, a new 11 acre Toy Story Land has also been revealed which promises to transport guests into the world of the beloved movies. Set in Andy's backyard, you're shrunk to the size of the toys and are surrounded by oversized toys that Andy has oddly assembled. Toy story land will also offer two new attractions and the expansion of the exciting, family-friendly roller coaster where families race and coast on the back of Slinky Dog.

With the new trilogy of Star Wars films set to catapult a new generation of fans into the Star Wars craze, Disney is definitely commoditising on their most loved movies. With the popularity of Star Wars, Toy Story and Avatar, the addition of these new rides and lands will definitely awaken our love for these fantastic films!

The trilogy's first instalment is about to kick off this December with The Force Awakens.
