Attendees at Disney's D23 expo in California this weekend got an unexpected little treat when Johnny Depp took to the stage in full-on Captain Jack Sparrow mode.

Dressed in his usual attire, Sparrow stumbled around the platform, slurring and throwing grapes at the adoring crowd, getting them ready for the much awaited return of his kooky character in the next addition to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Surveying the audience, Sparrow shot a bewildered squint at Disney’s Sean Bailey, and asked what was going on...

Depp: “Where are we?”

Bailey: “Disneyland!”

Depp: “Never heard of it. Anaheim?”

...before proceeding to throw the grapes he was holding at the crowd while simultaneously expressing his distain for the little guys.

"Grape! Grape! It bounced, don’t pick it up. I hate grapes. I despise the rotten little things.”

Shortly after, Depp was ushered off stage by Bailey, declaring stubborn indifference in characteristic Sparrow fashion as he was forced to jump ship.

“I came to sing you a song! I didn’t want to sing you a song anyway!”

Johnny Depp was on board to promote [Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales](tag:586017) which will be hitting theaters in two year's time, on July 7, 2017. Orlando Bloom has also been confirmed to return for the film.
