Fresh off of the D23 Expo this past weekend, the Internet has been ripe with fresh information regarding Disney's numerous upcoming projects. One of which has me even more excited than imaginable for Jon Favreau's live-action(ish?) take on the collection of short stories, turned 1967 animated classic, The Jungle Book.
If the thought of having Jon Favreau (Elf, Iron Man) - a modern Hollywood Renaissance man in my opinion - at the helm of the film doesn't sell you on the idea, maybe this new poster of Mowgly surrounded by Bagheera, Kaa, and the monkeys will pique your interest:
Disney's The Jungle Book stars the young, talented Neel Sethi as the live-action Mowgli and has supplied the other anthropomorphic animals with a cast of mostly familiar voices including: Bill Murray as Baloo, Scarlett Johansson as Kaa, Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Chistopher Walken as King Louie, Giancarlo Esposito as Akela, and Lupita Nyong'o as Raksha.
So, will Bill Murray be singing "The Bare Necessities?" Or will Christopher Walken sing "I Wanna Be Like You?" I guess only time will tell!
Personally, I'm looking forward to some of these scenes and curious to see how musical Favreau and his team are willing to get.
The Jungle Book will be released in the spring of 2016.
