Warner Bros. has officially announced the beginning of filming for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the first installment of the next franchise based on J.K. Rowling's original novels. The film will actually mark Rowling's debut as a screenwriter, with a story that revolves around the wizarding world’s top magizoologist, Newt Scamander.
The star-studded cast sounds like something out of a fangirl's wet dream: Eddie Redmayne leads the cast as Scamander himself, with Katherine Waterston as Tina, Alison Sudol as Tina’s sister Queenie, Dan Fogler as Jacob, future DC speedster Ezra Miller as Credence, Samantha Mortonas Mary Lou, Jenn Murray as Chastity, newcomer Faith Wood-Blagrove as Modesty. and Colin Farrell as Graves.
Along with Rowling, Harry Potter veterans David Yates and David Heyman will be involved, with Yates directing and Keyman serving as co-producer, alongside Rowling, Steve Kloves, and Lionel Wigram.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits theaters in 2016.
