So, they're making new Star Wars movies! Have you heard?! You've probably heard.

In December, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens will hit theaters. About a year later we'll see the first Star Wars spinoff film. It is called "Rogue One - A Star Wars Story". Sounds exciting? It's directed by Gareth Edwards. It's about a group of rebels called "Rogue Squadron". They are on a mission to steal the plans to the death star!

Who's making the movie?

Lets look at the creators! Gareth Edwards is directing the movie. Edwards is mostly known for his movie "Godzilla", that came out last year. I personally liked the movie, and I hope we will get a similar tone for Rogue One.

Edwards became a known director after making the low-budget movie "Monsters" from 2010. It's a post-apocalyptic movie where monsters are taking over the world. Am I the only one who think that sound similar to Godzilla? Edwards know how to make a movie about monsters and aliens, and I think it would be cool with a post-apocalyptic Star Wars movie!

Gary Whitta started out as the writer of the movie, but dropped out. He wrote "The book of Eli", "After Earth", and several episodes of "The Walking Dead".

The second writer is Chris Weitz. He wrote this years Cinderella, and he has also written the post-apocalyptic novel "The Young World".

All of these people have ONE thing in common! They've all been making post-apocalyptic, monster and alien themed stories! Therefor I would expect a dark and gritty Star Wars movie! We're all tired of boring love stories, council meetings and Anakin's opinion on sand. We want a dark movie! We want monsters! We want gore!

After looking at the first OFFICIAL released image from set, we can clearly see that this has taken inspiration from Gareth Edwards earlier movies. It has a dark tone, which I very much appreciate! The cast looks great! They're costumes looks great! The sets looks great!

This isn't the first image we have seen from the set!

Production has started, and we got some images from set! We see Stormtroopers in the armor from episode IV, and they look great as always!

For director of photography, Gareth Edwards chose Greig Fraser, who has been working on "Zero Dark Thirty" and "Foxcatche"r. For special effects, he chose Neil Corbould. He has been working on "Black Hawk Down", "Gladiator" and "Saving Private Ryan". Production designers will be Doug Chiang and Neil Lamont, who has been making "Star Wars I and II", "Forrest Gump", "Harry Potter" and "Edge of Tomorrow". Stunt coordinator will be Rob Inch. He worked on "World War Z" and "Captain America". For costume and creatures effects, will be Neal Scanlan and Dave Crossman, who's been working on "Prometheus", "Harry Potter", "Saving Private Ryan" and "Kingsman: The Secret Service"!

That was a LOT of names, but what we can take from that is that this crew has been working on MANY great war movies. Zero Dark Thirty, Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan, World War Z, Captain America, Prometheus and Edge of Tomorrow! Wow! Lots of great war and sci-fi movies! So I do believe this will be an almost perfect war movie! I have a GOOD feeling about this!

What can we expect?

I believe this movie is taking Star Wars to a dark place. It will be dark and gritty! I have faith in Gareth Edwards, and the cast! I hoped this move would turn out to be a post-apocalyptic monster movie, but it seems like we will get a war movie with the tone of Godzilla. But we can't forget the fact that this movie will be a movie about stealing the plans to the death star! So I hope we'll see a lot of great heists! I am a fan of the crime movie genre, but I think this is more going for a war movie tone, than a heist/crime film.

Anyways! I'm very exited!
