I think the way movies these days are made are based on money, greed, and selfishness. So when there are great ideas out there to make great movies, some of those ideas will never see the light of day. I believe that to make a great idea in any form, you need as much input as you can get. When you can get the best writers in the business, people tend to take full advantage of that. This is where I believe Marvel Studios excels at, they have the comic book writers hired to give input whether it's writing the movie or just giving ideas to the writers, and that's why Marvel Studios has most studios beat and also why more and more people line up to watch their movies on Friday nights.
When Marvel Studios decided to sell the rights to some of their most prized superheroes (Spider-man, X-Men, Fantastic Four, etc...) many people were excited to see their favorite superheroes on screen for the very first time, I know because Spider-Man is my personal favorite superhero. A lot of backlash came back to bite them in the butt from fan boys and girls because it wasn't made perfectly. Let's take the Spider-Man movies, in the comics Peter Parker was this geeky kid in high school going through what any kid goes through in school. Then he attends a field trip for school and as he is watching a radioactive experiment, a radioactive spider bites him on the hand, and after that he gains the powers of a spider. The reason why Spidey is in most opinions, Marvels most popular hero is that he is the most grounded and relatable one. When he is Peter Parker, He is very shy but once he becomes Spider-Man, he is a very cocky smart-mouthed hero. The one thing that separates the movies apart from the comics is that they could never get the character to have both of those personalities. In the Toby Maguire movies, they got the Peter Parker personality spot on but could never get the cocky part correct. When Sony rebooted the movie franchise and cast Andrew Garfield for the titular role, fans praised Garfields portrayal of the cockyness side of Peters alter-ego. I believe Marvel Studios will get this down right and make the perfect Spidey.
Fox Studios on the other hand, when the company gained the rights to those characters, did almost anything to stay away from the source material especially the character backgrounds. For what it was worth, the closest to any authentic movie they have produced, it was the 2005 and 2007 Fantastic Four movies that was closest to doing that. The issue with those movies was due to the fact that they were completely rushed and that what I believe to be the reason that they were so poorly received by fans and critics both. Like I said before multiple times that when you rush movies too quickly, there will be consequences. Take the Amazing Spider-Man movie series for example, Sony had a specific amount of years to make a Spidey movie and if they failed to get the movie into production, the rights would revert back into marvels hands. Now that they wasted time to get the Web Head into the movie, they rushed into making the new series and guess how that turned out, the movie series were rushed and forced. This is the same issue with Fox Studios, they can never make a movie true to what the movies should be. Now granted, the X-Men movies have gone up with quality on their movies and I like that, but that's just about the only thing that they are doing. Now I know that they are making their spinoff movies like Gambit and Deadpool, but they don't care about the classic stories that gave made them famous. The new Fantastic Four movies have proven my point. There was so much hatred coming from the fans of the original super team. Their characters were so beloved by fans everywhere especially the Human Torch/Johnny Storm who happens to be the brother of Sue Storm, another member of the team. Fox not only messed up Johnny's character by casting him as a different race and not related to Sue, but they destroyed yet another classic character and beloved villain in Dr. Doom in making him a computer hacker instead of making him a brilliant scientist like he is in the comics. Although I have not seen the new movie yet, I believe this is part of the reason why the movie will movie will most likely flop at the box office and its all due to rushing the movies to come out. You cant force any project whether it's fixing a car or making a movie, or the project will fail and that's why you have to take your time on these projects.
To wrap things up despite the success of the X-Men franchise and inevitable success that will come from Deadpool, to ensure the success of fox studios they need to come to some sort of agreement with Marvel Studios whether it's continuing with their current storylines or rebooting everything they have. I personally believe they really need to go the route that Sony did and reboot it all. This way they can start off fresh and introduce these characters into the MCU in a proper way so the fans will be happy and they can get a great way of making the characters authentic to their comic book stories. If they decide to continue the path they are on now, I just hope they do the characters justice. This has to happen soon so when Hugh Jackman leaves after his final performance as the iconic Wolverine, they will have stories to ensure their future with these movies. I know for one thing, they won't be going anywhere soon.
