Just think of Baywatch for a second. What's the first thing that popped into your head? It was Pamela Anderson, wasn't it? Was she running down a beach in slow-motion with one of those red floaty things? Yeah. I bet she was.

Basically, Pamela Anderson IS Baywatch for many fans (with David Hasselhoff coming a close second), so we're clearly interested to hear her opinion on the new Baywatch reboot staring Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson. Surprisingly, she's apparently not too keen on the whole idea.

In an interview with TMZ, the 48-year-old - who was once the favored poster girl of 1990s adolescent boys everywhere - claimed, "No one appreciates the remakes."

She went on to add that times have changed since Baywatch was on the air, suggesting the period between 1989 and 1999 was a "simpler, sweeter time."

This certainly isn't encouraging for fans who hoped to see a Pamela Anderson cameo in the reboot. It seemed like a foregone conclusion that the producers would want to get Anderson in for a fun little role, but apparently they have yet to contact her, if they ever do. Regardless, I'm sure these comments will hardly help things.

Although Anderson probably has a point about the very 1990s tone of the Baywatch television series, it seems like the film will be going in a very different direction.

At Disney's recent D23 expo, Dwayne Johnson revealed Baywatch would be a very R-rated action-comedy, which makes sense considering they hired Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses, Identity Theft) as director. He explained:

"We want to make a big movie! A fun movie! Fun beach movie! Bring the beach movie back — to the world. But also have something that has edge and has badass action. Also has, really dirty, rated-R humor, which is right in my wheelhouse."

He also added that the role of C.J. Parker, originally played by Anderson in the series, would be returning, and apparently, there's been no shortage of attractive actresses and models who want to snap up the iconic role. Johnson added:

"C.J., who's going to play C.J.?. I can't tell you the amount of calls we've been getting... from the most gorgeous actresses and models in the world — their agents and managers, who want them to be C.J."

Whoever does get the role, they'll certainly have their work cut out. Pamela Anderson definitely has some big *ahem* boots to fill.
