Possibly too prolific for his age, actor Edward Norton turns 46 today. While he's best known for his roles on-screen in American History X and, most recently, [Birdman](tag:780317), Norton is also a seasoned writer, director and activist, with particular interests in wildlife conservation. In July 2010, Norton was named as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for Biodiversity by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
But while the actor has a long line of incredible performances under his belt, he's known within the geek community as the first person to play the (still-canon, as part of Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe) Incredible Hulk, also known as Bruce Banner. A Boston Native, Norton learned his craft at Yale, where he created student productions alongside the likes of Ron Livingston and Paul Giamatti. The actor is 46 years old today. Happy Birthday!
