For the past few weeks, UFC powerhouse Ronda Rousey has been taking a page from the Tyrese Gibson school of self-promotion and hardcore pitching herself to be the next Captain Marvel. First, she straight-up said she'd like to play Carol Danvers, and lately, she's been sharing fan art of herself as Captain Marvel on social media.

Now, most of the Carol Corps seems to be not-so-much on board with the idea due to Rousey's dubious acting abilities. Still others are not so down with the idea due to her history of transphobic comments, which some fans feel is not a representation of what Carol would stand for, character separated from actress notwithstanding.

But among those who is totally for the idea of Rousey taking up the mantle of Captain Marvel is none other than comic book super-geek Kevin Smith. Speaking to TMZ, the director made the valid point that of anyone cast as a superhero or superheroine lately, Rousey would be the only one actually capable of kicking ass in real life:

Everyone knows that she’s one of the only people that could play a superhero that could actually beat the shit out of somebody. I would like to see it happen...she seems like she has a good head on her shoulders...and holy shit, she's an ass-kicker, man. If that doesn't sound like a superhero to me, I don't know what is.

But what do you think? Is the idea of Ronda Rousey as Captain Marvel gaining momentum for you, or do you think it's a bad idea?

Captain Marvel will be in theaters on November 2, 2018.
